DRC Sudan

DRC has been present in Sudan since 2004, delivering life-saving programming in protection, emergency response, shelter, food security and livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, camp management, and humanitarian mine action. DRC has implemented projects in Central Darfur, South Darfur, South Kordofan, Gedaref, Kassala, and Khartoum states. Sudan hosts one of the largest displaced populations in Africa, with over 3.7 million internally displaced people and over 1.1 million refugees from South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, the Central African Republic, Chad, Yemen, and Syria. Against a background of political crisis, Sudan faces economic and social turmoil, with sharp increases in food and energy costs, further exacerbated by disease outbreaks and ongoing conflict.

Under the supervision of the Emergency Team Leader, the Emergency Response Assistant will ensure the effective implementation of DRC’s emergency response activities in the assigned area of responsibility. This includes organizing and supervising the integrated emergency response including rapid needs assessments and emergency MPCA.

In addition, the emergency response assistant is in charge of the following:              

  • Provides administrative or support with the implementation of emergency activities in the area as well as other programs, where needed and relevant
  • Assist the emergency response officer in ensuring compliance with DRC and donor processes, quality of the planning, implementation, and follow-up of emergency activities in line with sector guidelines and standard operating procedures.

The job holder’s tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. In charge of overseeing day-to-day field-level activities ensuring these are completed according to standards. This includes participation in Needs Assessments, Registration of beneficiaries, distribution of CASH, Communication with communities, capacity building, and other emergency response activities.
  2. Conduct regular/daily visits to project implementation sites for quality assurance and engage with the targeted communities as needed.
  3. Participate in needs assessments and distributions as required. Draft and compile assessment and distribution documents for all caseloads.
  4. Ensure project-related issues and challenges are addressed on time by informing the line manager and relevant departments.
  5. Carry out administrative tasks, including preparation of PRs, POs, service contracts, financial reconciliation, and tracking of outputs.
  6. Maintain the records of all the activities, beneficiary lists, and participant lists. Follow given work plans and guidelines.

Minimum Qualification, Skills, and Experience Required:

Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Experience in administrative tasks
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Experience with following standard procedures and guidelines
  • Fluency in local language
  • Ability to produce timely and high-quality reports
  • Full professional proficiency in English and Arabic

Education background: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)

  • At least a certificate in a relevant field
  • Basic knowledge of humanitarian cash transfer programming.

languages: (indicate fluency level)

  • Fluent in English (both oral and written)
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is mandatory

Salary range: 826-923 USD

Location: Red Sea State – (roving to other areas).
