 Functional Responsibilities

Under the close supervision of the HR Associate, the intern will be expected to engage in the support of HR tasks and to selectively drive particular work items on their own as part of their on-the-job learning program.

His/her responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Actively participate in recruitment outreach efforts for all active recruitments as per the outreach plan
  • Assist in checking and proofreading ToRs on proper grammar and format use in advertisements before they are posted
  • Assist in reference checking process of candidates
  • Report on completion of mandatory courses 
  • Assist in the compiling of different HR reports as appropriate
  • Follow up on confirmation of approvals for contract extensions
  • Follow up on confirmation of budget lines with hiring units during recruitment’s
  • Logistical assistance in planning, organizing and preparation of interviews, trainings and other relevant events
  • Support the identification and documentation of best practices and lessons learnt, including coordination and organization wide implementation of knowledge sharing and documentation methodologies
  • Assist in HR filing as applicable
  • Maintenance of the training database
  • Other tasks as deemed relevant

Education/Experience/Language requirements


Education:

Minimum first level university degree, preferably in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related area within three (3) years prior to the applications date of the internship.

Those who graduated in 2021/2022 are highly encouraged to apply.

Experience: 

  • Applicants with no prior professional work experience are highly encouraged to apply
  • Proficiency in Web applications such as google suite, office applications is an asset.

Language: 

Intermediate or above proficiency level of English & Arabic is required.

 Background Information – Sudan

The UNOPS Sudan office is based in Khartoum and works closely with the Government of Sudan and international partners to support humanitarian response, recovery and development initiatives. UNOPS is the United Nations sector lead for the Basic Infrastructure Sector in Sudan and helps partners achieve their project goals in sectors including: water resource management, education, census and elections, human resource management and mine action.

The internship is a learning and working opportunity that targets recent graduates. The intern will assist in the UNOPS Sudan office and will be exposed to practical learning and working experiences that foster development of his /her path. The Intern will work full time and follow the same working hours as UNOPS employees. A monthly stipend will be provided to the intern.
