MAIN PURPOSE:  As a Logistic Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the logistical and supply chain operations necessary for the effective implementation of WASH intervention. Your responsibilities will include coordinating the delivery of supplies, tracking inventory, and ensuring timely and efficient transportation of materials essential for project activities. You will work closely with project teams, local partners, and communities to facilitate successful project outcomes.

  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining inventory levels, ensuring accurate stock counts and timely reordering.
  • Process and track orders from initiation through to delivery, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in order fulfillment.
  • Coordinate transportation and logistics with carriers and suppliers, tracking shipments and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Maintain organized records of shipments, receipts, and inventory, utilizing software systems for data entry and reporting.
  • Support the logistics team in the analysis of supply chain processes, identifying areas for improvement and efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments, suppliers, and beneficiaries to provide updates and address inquiries.
  • Assist in preparing reports on logistics performance, including delivery times, costs, and inventory status.
  • Participate in inventory audits and support compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree,or equivalent; associate degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.
  • High diploma in English from a well-knowing institution/university.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in logistics, supply chain, or administrative roles, especially within humanitarian or development contexts, is an advantage.
  • Language: Fluency in English.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills and ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders in a sensitive environment. S/he must be able to respond quickly to requests for information.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with great attention to detail, capable of managing various logistical tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with logistics management software or ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, stakeholders, and communities.
  • Problem-solving attitude and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel independently, including to rural communities and work long hours.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems, processes, and procedures and adapt local practices to global standards.
  • Demonstrated attention to activity tracking detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members is required.
  • Talent for organizing and cataloging information is essential.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic, both spoken and written.
  • Ability and willingness to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to interact well with people and proven experience of building strong relationships with community members 
  • Committed to the values and ethics of BFD

Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS): The role holder is required to carry out the duties in adherence to the Core Humanitarian Standards, the values and principles outlined in BFD’s policies such as Code of Conduct, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Child Safeguarding, Anti Workplace Harassment, Fiscal Integrity, Anti-Retaliation, and other internal policies and guidelines.
