Context:
Under the direct supervision of the mission Information Management (IM) Officer, the successful
candidate will support the IOM Sudan mission-wide information management, data analysis, reports
production and tools design. Furthermore, the incumbent will work in close coordination with the
Programme Manager of the Migrant Protection and Integration (MPx) unit and with the coordinator of
the Programme Support Unit (PSU).
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Collect, clean, verify and analyse data submitted by the implementing teams and verify timely
data entry to the IM systems – RIMS, MRCIS and MIMOSA, pertaining to migrant protection
and the overall mission protection work. - Coordinate with the IM, M&E, and reporting staff members from different units and projects to
support them with quality and timely data that fulfils the reporting requirements. - Lead the data collection and management system of the Migrant Resource and Response
Centers (MRRCs), facilitate overall data entry requirements and support each MRRC unit and
its staff with necessary technical guidance. - Support the development of scheduled and ad hoc reports, infographics, visualizations and maps.
- Assist in creating, designing and maintaining web report tools and web applications developed
in Power BI and ArcGIS. - Support in building the IM capacity of the Sudan mission staff members.
- Promote the consistent use of RIMS and MiMOSA across the mission, in line with relevant
instructions and internal guidance notes. - Verify the integrity and availability of IM data systems, including proper backup/restore systems,
data validation and security procedures. - Develop SQL queries, functions, scripts, and stored procedures to retrieve and update the
database. - Maintain proper archiving/saving of the data collected and equipment used in the field per
established procedures. - Keep information confidential as per IOM’s Data Protection Guidelines and strengthen
collaborative relationships with other department staff and project team members. - Perform other duties as they might be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Master’s degree in information management, Computer Science, Information Communication
Technology or a related field from an accredited academic institution, or - Bachelor’s degree in the above-mentioned fields with 2 years of relevant professional
experience.
Experience
- At least two years of experience in data cleaning, analysis and reporting, preferably on
migrant projects. - At least two years of experience using the following tools: Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel,
Power BI, and SQL Server. - At least two years of experience in systems analysis and development, data modelling and SQL
programming. - At least one year of experience developing and maintaining data systems with ODK/Kobo.
- Experience in RESTful web service APIs and modular user interfaces on an application
framework/platform – Drupal, Symfony, and React is an advantage. - Experience with IOM or UN agencies is an advantage
- Knowledge of migration crises and settings is an advantage
Skills
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Languages
- Fluency in English is required (oral and written).
- Fluency in the local language/s of the duty station is also required.
- Working knowledge of any UN Official language(s) and/or language(s) identified by the Country
Office.
