Medical Teams International (MTI) is seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Midwife to join our team in providing high-quality maternal health care services within a Primary Health Care (PHC) setting in refugees Camps.

As the Lead Midwife, you will play a key role in ensuring the well-being of mothers and newborns within our PHC program. You will provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and supervision to midwife colleagues, while also offering comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care to women in the community.

  • Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to midwife colleagues, ensuring adherence to best practices and protocols for maternal health care.
  • Conduct clinical audits and implement quality improvement initiatives within the PHC program.
  • Identify and conduct on job training needs within the midwifery team.

Direct Patient Care: 

  • Provide comprehensive antenatal care, including risk assessments, health education, and emotional support.
  • Attending births in a safe and supportive environment, adhering to midwifery protocols, and identifying situations requiring physician referral.
  • offer essential postnatal care to mothers and newborns, promoting breastfeeding and newborn development.
  • Collaborate effectively with other healthcare providers within the PHC setting.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.

Community Engagement: 

  • Work collaboratively with community leaders and health workers to promote awareness of maternal health services.
  • Conduct educational sessions on prenatal care, safe delivery practices, and newborn care.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Registered Midwife with a minimum of 4 years of experience providing services with governmental hospital or INGOs. 
  • Prior experience working in a low-resource setting.
  • Excellent clinical skills in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability and willingness to work in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Fluency in English (and local language, if applicable).
