Under the supervision of the Routine Immunization Coordinator, the Project Officer will support the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of GAVI-funded immunization projects. This role involves working closely with government counterparts, partners, and communities to strengthen routine immunization efforts. In humanitarian emergencies, the post holder may be required to adjust responsibilities and working hours accordingly.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Supervise Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) vaccinators at health facilities.
- Collect, compile, and submit monthly and quarterly immunization reports.
- Develop and maintain immunization schedules and conduct training sessions.
- Lead community awareness campaigns on vaccine-preventable diseases.
- Identify underserved communities and develop targeted vaccination strategies.
- Ensure the proper management and distribution of vaccines and related supplies.
- Support cold chain management and vaccine transportation.
- Collaborate with government health departments and partners to enhance immunization coverage.
- Monitor and support outreach immunization activities in remote areas.
- Participate in coordination meetings with government and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the documentation and reporting of immunization program outcomes.
- Support emergency immunization campaigns and rapid response initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, Medicine, Nursing, or a related health discipline.
- Minimum of one year of experience in routine immunization programs in Sudan.
- Knowledge of immunization strategies, health program implementation, and monitoring.
- Experience working with government health departments and community health initiatives.
- Strong organizational and reporting skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in project coordination and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
Essential
- Minimum one year’s direct experience on Routine Immunization program at the national or sub-national level in Sudan. Experience in health program
- Skills and experience in project/programme implementation, monitoring, review, and evaluation.
- Experience of working with SMOH department, partners, and a participatory approach
- Able to work to tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
- Experience on field visits and technical supervision for EPI program
Desirable
- Computer skills in MS packages (windows, word, excel, etc)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Incredibly good organizational skills.
