Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) Switzerland is an international non-governmental organization working in the field of medical care in Sudan. We are looking for a qualified candidate to fill in the position of: MIDWIFE SUPERVISOR-(Outreach) 

Supervising the clinical activities and guaranteeing the quality of midwifery care in the department, according to MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards in order to provide a high-quality Mother and Child Health (MCH) care to the population

Accountabilities:

Train and coach CMWs and TBAs on danger signs, safe delivery, newborn care, respectful maternity care, referral systems, and emergency recognition.

Conduct skills refreshers and supportive supervision visits in the community.

Address harmful traditional practices (e.g., FGM) through awareness and education

Referral & Linkage:

  • Ensure CMWs and TBAs know when and how to refer, using clear criteria, and follow proper documentation and transport arrangement.
  • Strengthen CMW/TBA capacity to refer high-risk pregnancies, complicated deliveries, and sexual violence and FGM survivors.
  • Maintain a rapid communication chain between community providers and health facilities.
  • Monitor and document referral cases for follow-up.

Maternal & Newborn Care Oversight:

  • Promote adherence to evidence-based antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care protocols.
  • Support early identification of complications (e.g., pre-eclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage).
  • Encourage skilled birth attendance for all deliveries. Guide safe delivery practices, postpartum follow-up, breastfeeding support, newborn monitoring and timely complication referrals.
  • Community Engagement & Advocacy
  • Build trust with community leaders and families to promote and advocate for safe maternal practices, Vaccination importance, and food security.
  • Lead dialogues on ending FGM, preventing sexual/ gender-based violence (SGBV) and dispelling myths
  • Organize community health talks on pregnancy danger signs, newborn care, and family planning.
  • Address barriers to accessing facility-based care and supporting the community to come up with sustainable ways and initiatives of solving the barriers.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

EducationDiploma of Midwife (or any Diploma recognized in the country and /or the Ministry of Health to practice as such). 
ExperienceDesirable 2 years of previous experience and previous experience in other NGO’s. Demonstrable experience in supervising and training others in a team setting
