We are seeking for motivated professionals who will ensure the smooth operation of the medical services in-line with MSF/MoH Protocol to guarantee high-quality of medical care in the field.
As a Medical Doctor, you will provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries, adhering to updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values, and universal hygiene standards, to improve the health conditions of patients/beneficiaries.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevent. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment, respecting MSF protocols.
- Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
- Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following MSF protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient’s evolution.
- Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection, and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
- Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patient’s illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
- Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.
- Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures Professional confidentiality is respected.
- Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility according to MSF HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance, organizing and scheduling shifts and rotations, directly participating in emergencies and on calls if necessary.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
- Participate in the improvement of case management and technical capacities for the medical staff working in MSF supported services/activities: primary health care, emergency response, RRTs, staff health…
- Support MSF and MOH team for applying medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention.
- Collaborate for keeping the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness
- Follow up the evolution of the patients being consulted or admitted in MSF supported activities: external consultations, observation room, SRH services, rapid response team consultations.
- Follow up the patients referred to other facilities/services
- Collab orate for the medical staff to follow national and/or international clinical guidelines for patient management
- Carry out theoretical training, practices and during work according to the medical priorities established in the project. Collaborate in data collection and analysis of medical activities
- Collaborate with MAM, NAM and data team in implementing medical data collection
- Active role in surveillance of alerts in collaboration with medical team: diseases with outbreak potential, displacement of population and mass casualty.
- Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care focused on the medical priorities of the project
- Support the emergency response activities when needed. Active role in assessments and detecting needs and gaps.
- Close collaboration with MOH FP of referral in different activities and facilities
- Brief the new hired staff, and the new arrivals to the project regarding staff health policy when needed.
Qualification, Skills, and Experience Required:
| Education | Medical University Degree from recognizable university with full registration in Sudan Medical Council. |
| Experience | – 2 years’ experience minimum as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work after medical training. – Mission language essential (English and Arabic) – Required Competencies: People Management, Commitment, Flexibility, Result, and Teamwork. – Desirable: in cholera response and preparedness. Experience in medical assessments – Desirable: previous experience with MSF – Desirable experience in tropical medicine, or post-registration experience in Public Health, obs and gynae, pediatrics, A&E, infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS/STDs, TB, general practice, general medicine, or minor surgery. |
