Background:
Performing autonomously, specific installations, maintenance works and repairs as a logistics technician in the logistics families of electrical, generators and vehicles according to the logistics supervisor’s instructions and MSF standards and procedures. A high standard of work is required by this logistics technician in order to ensure proper function of MSF’s electrical and mechanical equipment. They will also be required to perform some maintenance tasks and basic repairs in the hospital. This logistics technician will be on roster, with a combination of both day and night shifts as the project needs.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Switching the energy source from Citypower to MSF Generator out of hours when the Citypower line shuts off. Monitoring this activity and activating and de-activating equipment as necessary.
- Generator servicing and basic repairs.
- Vehicle servicing and basic repairs.
- Electrical preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Assist in hardcopy and softcopy tracking of our fuel, generator hours and vehicle kilometers.
- Perform regular maintenance of MSF installations and equipment. ]
- Provide generalised logistics support out of hours including oxygen cylinder supply, repairs of infrastructure, ambulance tracking, electrical equipment maintenance, fuel supply to vehicles and generators and other support as needed by the medical team.
- Perform regular maintenance of MSF installations / equipment / infrastructures (base, house, store, warehouse, health centre, hospital, etc.), particularly in line with a preventive maintenance plan (procedures to follow, schedule, etc.).
- Immediately inform the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, theft or attempted break-ins.
- Assist logistics department for any related work needed.
- Keeping working area clean and tidy.
- Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to logistical maintenance are always completed. Preparing reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.
- Undertaking detailed handovers as part of the rostered work for an efficient flow of work.
Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
| Education | Essential diploma OR recognized formal training in the field of electrical and / or mechanical. Literacy and numeracy essential. |
| Experience | Demonstrate technical experience relevant to this post (minimum 2 years’ experience). Essential at least two years previous working experience. Desirable in MSF or other INGOs. |
| Languages | Local (Arabic) and mission (English) language essential. |
| Hours | Please be aware that this is a rostered role. This logistics technician will work a combination of day and night shifts. Its vital that you are able to work both at day and night for this role. |
