Background:
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is responding to the humanitarian crisis in Tawila, North Darfur, where large‑scale displacement has resulted in severe food insecurity, critical water shortages, and acute health and nutrition needs amid access constraints and a complex operating environment. CRS is implementing and scaling life‑saving interventions in food security, water, health, and nutrition, including cash‑based and in‑kind assistance and support to Emergency Response Rooms (ERRs). CRS also actively engages in humanitarian coordination to improve coverage, targeting, and accountability.
You will assist emergency programming food assistance activities by working directly with local partners and community members in support of Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work to serve the poor and vulnerable. Your service and community interpersonal skills contribute to projects that benefit local communities that consistently applies best practices and continuously works towards improving its impact.
Duties and responsibilities:
Roles and Key Responsibilities
- Support programming activities at the field level, including beneficiary identification and verification; in-kind distributions; and post-distribution interviews contributing to ensuring quality implementation.
- Contribute to ensuring accountability to project beneficiaries and local stakeholders.
- Support the monitoring of project activities at the field level, per the M&E plan through collection of data.
- Support community mobilization efforts through communication and information sharing with project beneficiaries at the community level.
- In coordination with the project team support capacity building events for community volunteers.
Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- Minimum 1-3 years’ work or volunteer experience in supporting community development and mobilization.
- Experience in in-kind food distribution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Sudan Humanitarian Fund/OCHA project is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Observation and active listening skills
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse groups
- Proactive, results-oriented and service-oriented
Required Languages: Arabic required, English would be a plus.
Travel: Must be willing and able to travel up to 70 % to project locations in Darfur.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No. The position will be supervised by SPO Food and focus on one specific project (SHF). The PM II will lead the coordinator with other CRS food security projects in Sudan.
