Background:
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

THE PURPOSE
The Technical Worker performs maintenance and repair tasks, applying technical skills and experience to support daily maintenance operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Improvement on existing piping towards preventive maintenance
- Assess plumbing requirements and ensure appropriate use of quality materials.
- Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems and fixtures, including toilets, showers, urinals, drains, washbasins, boilers, kitchen sinks, water tanks, and gas systems etc.
- Support the Senior Plumber in joint maintenance tasks and carry out assignments as directed.
- Assist with basic AC plumbing provisions and minor joinery or masonry work when required.
- Participate in preventive maintenance programs to enhance the durability and efficiency of plumbing systems.
- Maintain all plumbing tools and equipment in clean, organised, and functional condition.
- Ensure maintenance requests are completed efficiently, with timely progress reporting.
- Install new pipe networks and improve existing piping systems to prevent future issues.
- Perform tasks safely, proactively identifying hazards and minimising risks in the work area.
- Respond to emergencies quickly in a sometimes-stressful environment
Qualification, Skills, and Experience Required:

- Strongly motivated by humanitarian work
- Able to work under pressure in a potentially dangerous environment
CERTIFICATIONS / EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Primary school education and some vocational training are required.
- Basic knowledge of English.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Similar work experience is desirable.
