Driver* 

in Khartoum 

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of Project based Contract. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Khartoum, Sudan (SD).

Your responsibilities

Drive office vehicles as scheduled

  • Drive staff members and partners on office-related matters/visits.
  • Collect and deliver official documents and letters (messenger services).
  • Pick up and deposit equipment, purchases, etc.
  • While in the field, maintain radio/mobile phone contact with the base on a regular basis.
  • Keep the vehicle’s logbook up to date.

Maintain office vehicles

  • Clean vehicles (inside/outside) on a regular basis.
  • (Re)fuel vehicles.
  • Check oil, water, brakes and clutch fluids on a daily basis; tyre pressures, battery water, and overall vehicle condition on a monthly basis or after 5,000 km, whichever comes earlier; test lights, brakes, bodywork for dents, etc.
  • Report suspected mechanical problems, if possible before actual problems arise.
  • Immediately report any involvement of the project/office vehicle in any, even minor, accidents, or any damage or theft of equipment from the vehicle.
  • Keep the vehicle’s documents (log book) up to date.
  • Keep vehicles and car tools in a good technical condition and make small repairs.
  • Tend first-aid kits in all vehicles.
  • Timely report necessary repairs or other need for maintenance.
  • Additional Duties
    • Pay bills (water, electricity, telephone).
    • Buy daily-use items (upon request).
    • Collect and deliver mail, documents, bills, etc. (messenger services).
    • Fulfillment of any other tasks which are assigned by the management and correspond in general with the character of this position.

Your profile

1. Knowledge / Qualifications

1.1 Professional / Formal Qualification
School-leaving qualification.

1.2 Job-related Professional Experience
Up to 12 months’ professional experience (incl. internships).

1.3 Foreign Language Skills
Basic knowledge in a world language.
