NRC resumed operations in Sudan in 2020, providing humanitarian assistance, protection, and durable solutions. Our country programme integrates all of NRC’s six core competencies (camp management, education, ICLA, livelihoods, shelter, and WASH), and provides a rapid response capacity (including for the recent refugee emergency in eastern Sudan), and thematic capacities for cash and markets-based approaches, advocacy, digital modes of assistance, and co-leading various technical and strategic coordination platforms.

Role Specific Information

The Storekeeper has the day to day operational responsibility for stock movements within warehousing on behalf of NRC.

The following is a brief description of the role.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Maintain the warehouse clean and tidy, well organized and free from rodents and other pests.
  2. Ensure security of the warehouse with adapted measures depending on the goods stored (guards, fire prevention…).
  3. Monitor the storage capacity and make sure it is in line with upcoming shipments
  4. Receive goods and register all items in the stock (stock cards, stock report, archiving of documents…) according to the logistics handbook.
  5. Dispatch goods to requesters and register all movements as per the logistics handbook procedures.
  6. Monthly make reports on the stock content, and assist in conducting inventories, both on paper and physically.
  7. Assists in reconciliation of stock.
  8. Immediately report any losses, damages or discrepancies.
  9. Organize and control all support services needed for the functioning of the warehouse (daily labor, trucks, forklifts…).
  10. When relevant, ensure payment of utilities warehouse, given the periodic inspection of meters at the beginning of each month.
  11. Control packing, loading and unloading of materials.
  12. Hire daily labor support.
  13. Maintain warehouse material in proper condition.
  14. Keep records of all incoming and outgoing materials, on paper and in electronic form. Maintain accurate records of materials and constant control.=

  • Basic experience from working with warehousing in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  • Working knowledge or basic communication in English, both written and verbal
  • Basic Knowledge of the context in the areas NRC operates
  • Highly organized person, with sense of priorities
  • Attention to details, creative thinking

Duty station: Khartoum
