The Norwegian Refugee Council has an interesting and rewarding opportunity to be part of our newest country of operation – Sudan.
The NRC has recently re-registered to operate in Sudan, and is currently in country start-up phase, conducting assessments and designing the first steps of the programme. Focus will be given to people displaced by conflict, refugees, and vulnerable migrants, and potential geographical areas of work will be Khartoum state, South Kordofan and Blue Nile on a first phase, with the idea to expand to other States.
As a priority, NRC is therefore hiring a Field Office Coordinator to be part of establishing NRC’s programme in Sudan.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage support staff at field office level
- Manage day to day HR & Admin, finance, logistics and security tasks of the field office
- Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, procedures, and SOPs/guidelines
- Ensure adherence to Security and Risk Management policy and procedures
- Coordinate and assist with budgets and costs for the field office’s shared costs and support functions
- Provide support in the training and development of staff
- Provide support to project implementation at field office level
- Coordinate representation meetings with the UN, partners and authorities
- Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
- Represent the AM in important meetings, forums etc.
- Lead joint multi sectorial needs assessments in the field area
- Ensure that CCs officers play active role in clusters and coordination meetings at federal level
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders in Khartoum
- Ensure Health, Security and Safety SoPs, MoSS are adhered to and respected
- Approve and monitor staff movements in accordance with NRC HSS SoP
- Oversee support costs and ensure cost efficiency and value for money
- Ensure that effective asset and stock management is maintained in the field office
- Ensure donor and NRC internal compliances are respected
- Responsible for Khartoum program implementation and contributing proposal writings
- Organize anti-corruption trainings for the field staff
- Coordinate staff capacity building sessions together with HR and Admin Manager
- Assist CCs coordinator in performance management of CCs officers in the field office
- Other responsibilities delegated by AM
Qualifications / Context related skills, knowledge and experience:
- At least 4 yrs Experience working in support/Field functions in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile context
- Experience in Urban Refugee Response
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of the context in Sudan
- Excellent English
- Experience with scale-up of projects
