At WFP, we are looking for an experienced Driver (Forklift/ Reach Stacker) to join our Administration team in Port Sudan, to be hired on Fixed Term Contract at level 3.

Selected candidate is expected to provide efficient and safe driving of Forklift/Reach stacker inside the port, and provide full operational support required to WFP Port Operation in coordination with WFP Port staff and SPC (Sea Ports Corporation).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Transfer/receive containers from terminal to inspections area in efficient manner under the supervision of WFP Port staff and in coordination with SPC (Sea Ports Corporation) operators following authorized routing and UN -WFP safety and security rules.
  • Support to organize and spread containers in WFP dedicated area to facilitate smooth and safe port operation, inspection, and dispatch. 
  • Shift containers to the assigned area by SPC in case containers are moved other than WFP dedicated area for inspections and dispatch following authorized routing and UN-WFP safety and security rules.
  • Responsible for accurate maintenance of the Forklift’s/Reach stacker’s logbooks, and daily reporting to the supervisor on mechanical status, to ensure efficient Forklift/Reach stacker use and fuel consumption supporting accurate accounting and cost-efficiency following manufacturer’s standards in compliance with established maintenance schedules and WFP safety procedures.
  • Follow established rules and regulations in cases of an accident, and report immediately to the supervisor on any apparent problems, to seek for instructions and facilitate informative decisions on the way forward. 
  • Keep a good order for all repair tools and equipment to support safe, healthy, and clean working environment.
  • To keep the reach stacker clean and monitoring its services regularly.
  • To report at the end of any operation about the number of containers been moved. 
  • Perform other related duties as and when required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • A minimum of at least four (4) years of relevant professional experience is required

Education: Completion of secondary school education.

Language: Fluency in both English and Arabic.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • Forklift/ Reach stacker driving technology or relevant mechanical/technical trainings. Driver’s license/certification.
  • Four or more years of progressively responsible experience in operating forklift/Reach stacker inside the port, handling containers.
  • To keep the reach stacker clean and monitoring its services regularly.
  • To report at the end of any operation about the number of containers been moved.
