  • Ensure compliance with PSEA/Child Safeguarding systems, and prepare risk assessments within the project activities, planning and delivering training programs accordingly.
  • Provide orientation and training to project’s teams on Safeguarding.
  • Lead monitoring on the safeguarding policy compliance of BFD projects during implementation. Lead, identify, and report on projects with high safeguards sensitivity.
  • Determine the efficiency of safeguarding procedures at workplaces and finding the noncompliance areas and gaps to take corrective actions.
  • Conduct a review of Child Safeguarding Policy implementation throughout the field offices and implement the Child Safeguarding Policy Compliance Action Plan.
  • Coordinate with BFD MEAL, Compliance and focal points in the term of training and field monitoring.
  • Reporting all safeguarding and fraud accidentscases.
  • Record the stakeholders and beneficiaries’ complaints/feedback and report them for the accountability team for quick response.
  •  Ensure that the safeguarding mechanisms are in place and are subject to continuous monitoring/review.
  • Ensuring safeguarding concerns are reported effectively in line with the policy, acting as the field referral point.
  • Ensure that concerns are followed up safely, effectively and efficiently and to the required standards. 
  • Collaborating with key teams and processes to ensure that Child Safeguarding is integrated into all systems.
  • Ensure that all new recruits have had a thorough Safeguarding Policy induction.
  • Support his/her supervisor in performing training needs assessments, determining appropriate content and target groups for training, ensuring the continued improvements and preparing a calendar of trainings to ensure the coverage of the training needs and maintain high standards of quality. 
  • Assist the Facilitator/Trainer in delivering training courses and may deliver training course himself/herself when required.
  • Regularly assess the security vulnerabilities of project sites, offices, and staff. Develop and implement 
  • Create and regularly update emergency procedures for various scenarios (fire, natural disasters, security threats). Conduct drills and training.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of security breaches, accidents, and near-misses. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Implement and maintain access control, monitor security equipment, and conduct regular safety inspections to protect premises, equipment, and sensitive information.
  • Foster a strong safety culture through training, awareness campaigns, and incident reporting to prevent accidents and ensure employee well-being.
  • Ensure adherence to BFD regulations, identify and assess workplace hazards, and implement programs to mitigate risks.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and security agencies.
  • Educate staff on security best practices, including personal safety, information security, and threat awareness.
  • Any sensitive issue to be raised to the Country director directly.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor degree in environmental science, social science, engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Working experience with NGO/INGO and/or similar projects for at least 2 years
  • Ability to work well with a range of stakeholders, including project-affected peoples, government officials, international organizations, development agencies, technical bodies, NGO’s and civil society
  • Computer literate (including working knowledge of MS Word, Excel)
  • Ability to synthesize and analyses information, and make clear, informed decisions.
  • Ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and external
  • Excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Cross-cultural experience, understanding and sensitivity
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS): The role holder is required to carry out the duties in adherence to the Core Humanitarian Standards, the values and principles outlined in BFD’s policies such as Code of Conduct, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Child Safeguarding, Anti Workplace Harassment, Fiscal Integrity, Anti-Retaliation, and other internal policies and guidelines.
