Under the direct supervision of the Protection Manager, the Protection Information Management (PIM) Officer – Central Darfur is responsible for providing technical support to the implementation of projects aiming at protecting and promoting the safety, rights, and agency of affected populations. To this end, the PIM Officer – Central Darfur will act as the focal point for program data management with tasks including, but not limited to, coding of assessment tools, debugging mobile data collection forms, cleaning, aggregating, and compiling the dataset(s) relevant to reporting and other outputs, and providing informed technical guidance to program teams.

The PIM Officer will serve as the Central Darfur focal point for the ongoing development, use, acceptance, and support of a program performance data management platform. The PIM Officer will have further agency to develop and implement solutions to improve data collection and management across the Central Darfur operations.

  • Support in the overall information management of the DRC programs in the Central Darfur area, with a particular focus on Protection Information Management.
  • Support the assessment database and development of new mobile assessment forms, where required, including for Protection activities.
  • Clean, aggregate, compile and analyze assessment datasets. Develop and update weekly/monthly program performance monitoring dashboards.
  • Produce visual materials with aggregate data to support project communications and reporting.
  • Build the capacity of other team members through the use of online assessment tools.
  • Support the adoption of mobile data collection tools by field teams; provide technical guidance to program personnel regarding the possibilities and limitations of electronic data collection tools.
  • Any additional tasks in support of project information management as assigned by the Protection Manager.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing professional publications.
  • Liaise with technical staff at other organizations and participate in meetings and activities by coordinating bodies, under the supervision of the Protection Manager. 
  • 3+ years’ experience developing assessments and using mobile data collection tools.
  • Demonstrate advanced experience with MS Office, especially MS Excel and Access.
  • Demonstrated experience with KOBO, ODK, or other humanitarian data tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with Power BI, Tableau, and/or comparable analytics and data management software
  • Experience conducting complex analytics and producing useful reports through technical software including Excel, STATA, and/or SPSS.
  • Proficiency in data analysis. Able to manage, analyze, and organize data and be adept at analysis and interpretation of large quantities of data.
  • Ability to design infographics that make data easy to understand. 
  • Proficiency with Geographic Information Systems. QGIS, ARCGIS, and CartoDB assets.
  • Prior experience with a humanitarian organization or agency an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent data entry skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients/beneficiaries.
  • Positive and professional attitude, including the ability to lead and work well in a team setting.
  • High degree of flexibility and strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail.

Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)

  • Degree in computer science or any relevant degree which includes training in database development and data analysis. 

Languages: (indicate fluency level)

  • Written and verbal fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory
