Under the overall supervision of the Programme Manager Migrant Protection and the direct
supervision of the Northern State National Protection Officer, in close coordination with relevant
IOM MPX teams in Port Sudan, Kassala and Gedaref, IOM CoO missions, and relevant government
entities, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for supporting the Migrant
Protection activities in Dongola and other localities in Northern state.

  1. Support consolidation and scale-up of the MRRC operation in Dongola by managing junior
    staff and undertaking programmatic, administrative, logistical tasks concerning the centre
    in coordination with the MPX Programme Manager and the wider MPX team.
  2. Garner support for and raise the profile of the MRRC Dongola through undertaking
    necessary coordination and engagement with the local authorities, UN agencies, other
    development and humanitarian actors and stakeholders.
  3. Facilitate the identification and coordination of migrant protection partners and implement
    referral mechanisms for migrants requiring various services such as medical assistance,
    mental health and psychosocial support, legal assistance, shelter, food, and non-food items
  4. (NFIs) and liaise with migrant communities in Dongola to secure their support for MRRC
  5. Dongola activities, and plan and execute community engagement and capacity-building initiatives.
  6. Support the planning, implementation and monitoring of the activities relevant to the
    MRRC Dongola.
  7. Collect, analyse and compile migration data/information derived from the operation of the
    MRRC Dongola and share them with the Programme Manager and other relevant IOM staff
    on a regular basis and as required for donor reporting.
  8. Closely work with the Information Management Officer and team and use MRC IS
    (information management system) and other data tools for the case management support
    to migrants visiting MRRC Dongola for support services.
  9. Take active role in providing VHR support to the most vulnerable migrants who report to
    MRRC Dongola and coordinate such work closely with wider mission MPX team for effective
    and efficient support provision.
  10. Monitor migration trends and determine MPX activity requirements within the state by
    cultivating effective working relationships with relevant local authorities and stakeholders,
    as well as participating in relevant cluster meetings.
  11. Represent the MPX programme in relevant meetings with the local authorities,
    partners and UN agencies in Northern state.
  12. Contribute to o v e r a l l development and management of a comprehensive Migrant
    Protection operations, including work plans, implementation strategies, and expenditure
    plans, to ensure timely execution and achievement of project objectives and outcomes.
  13. Undertake duty travels and field visits as required.
  14. Perform such other duties as maybe assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience


Education

  • Completed university degree in Management, Social Work, Psychology or a related field
    from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience;
    or
  • High school degree in the above fields from an accredited academic institution with
    minimum six years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience in the field of migration issues, including operational and field experience
    in IOM MRRC work, protection, direction assistance Return and Reintegration
    Programme implementation, M&E and reporting.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, other national / international
    institutions and I/NGOs on matters related to migration issues and overall work and
    mandate of IOM.
  • Experience in IOM project management and in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of Sudan and regional issues in the thematic areas is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience working with UN or other humanitarian agencies, an advantage.

Skills

  • Use of MRC IS, MiMOSA and other data management tools and case management skills;
  • Assessment of protection needs and needs analysis of affected population
  • Development and maintenance of referral mechanism for continuum of services to clients
  • Supervisory and training skills on the subject of case management, use of MRC IS,
    trafficking, assistance to children and women.
  • Skills in writing report including stories of migrants and clients being assisted.

Languages
Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
