by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Nature of the consultancy:
Offer technical services, support and contribute to supporting successful planning of WASH and basic
Infrastructure activities in the designated area of responsibility in Sudan. Take a lead through Providing
technical inputs in assessing WASH infrastructure requirements across assigned area in Sudan. Ensure timely completion of activities in qualitative and quantitative manner that demonstrate cost effectiveness.
Consultant will work to monitor all activities including problems resolution in coordination with the direct
supervisor.
Project Context and Scope:
Overall objective of this project is to to assess the electrical infrastructure and power requirements across
IOM offices and guest houses in Sudan. The goal is to evaluate the feasibility of transitioning to solar power as a sustainable and cost-effective energy source.
Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing:
WASH and Basic Infrastructure.

  1. Conduct a regular monitoring visits to the activities site as well as sharing detailed updates on progress
    of work execution.
  2. Conduct technical assessment and analyze data collected towards the implementation of WASH and
    Basic Infrastructure project once needed.
  3. Based on the assessments determine inputs required for developing concept note and proposals
    including designing of WASH infrastructure activities complete with cost estimates in line with market
    rates in Sudan.
  4. Identify any electrical safety issues or areas requiring that will regularly require upgrades, determine
    battery storage capacities and inverter specifications including adjoining electrical infrastructure.
  5. Prepare comprehensive/detailed Bill of Quantities (BoQ) outlining: all water facilities components,
    estimated budget.
  6. Assist in preparing final bidding documentation for tender processes once needed.
  7. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Performance indicators for the evaluation of results

  • Number of technical assessments/evaluations conducted and followed to implementation.
  • Number of site visits and inspections of pjoject.
  • Total number detailed reports.
  • Number of comprehensive/detailed Bill of Quantities outlining all WASH components contributed (If needed).

Required Qualifications and Experience and/or skills required:


Education:
University Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited academic institution with sound knowledge of construction.

Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in implementation of WASh and basict infrastructure related
projects. (2 years for candidates with post-graduate completed studies). Experience in the design and/or
implementation of structural water and sanitation interventions in Sudan.

Skills:
Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic; ability to work with limited supervision – works effectively
with local authorities. Strong knowledge of national and international electrical codes and standards.
Literate in electrical engineering softwares and statistical packages.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic and English is required (oral and written)
