Main Purpose
Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning nursing and the team associated, according to MSF values, policies and protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the quality and continuity of the health care and the development of the plan of action.
Accountabilities
- Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e. perform as a nurse or anesthetist, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience.
- Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures, and supervise his/her team to follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her specialty.
- Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance, and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
- Carry out and/or supervise the ( decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.)in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
- Carry out and/or coordinate administrative (exit paper, transfer paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-making.
- Give feedback/ reports to a medical focal point.
- Specific Accountabilities
- Ensure implementation of MSF nursing protocols in collaboration with the MSF medical team and MoH medical team.
- Ensure implementation of MSF IPC protocols in collaboration with the MSF medical team and MoH medical team.
- Support the MSF medical team in the implementation of referral pathways from the community to PHCC and from PHCC to secondary and tertiary hospitals.
- Supervise and ensure proper data collection and data follow-up in collaboration with the MSF Data encoder, data encoder supervisor, MAM, PMR, and MoH medical staff.
- Ensuring triage of patients in waiting areas, detecting the priority acute cases, carrying out first aid care when necessary, and referring them to the doctor if necessary.
- Carrying out all patient’s patient-related tasks for admission, weighing and measuring the children, identifying the degree and types of malnutrition, administration (patient card, register,..), etc.
- Carrying out consultations with children and their parents, undertaking a complete clinical examination of children, looking for associated pathologies, drawing up nutritional surveillance forms and milk cards, providing required vaccination, etc.
- Carrying out surveillance and follow-up of patient’s medical evolution, identifying possible emergency situations arising, and keeping doctors informed if necessary.
- Controlling all pharmacy, food, and medical equipment (carrying out inventories, checking its quality and its functioning, storage conditions, doing follow-up of expired drugs, etc.)
- Carrying out and supervising administrative procedures and documents (filling in patients’ files, forms, statistics, etc.), ensuring an appropriate written/oral handover, and reporting any problematic situations and cases arising.
- Collaborate with the health promotion/community engagement team in the community surveillance system and in the implementation of community curative and preventive activities.
Requirements
Education | Specialist (nurse or anesthetist) diploma essential. Bachelor in nursing or anesthetist is preferable. |
Experience | Essential computer literacy (word, excel, and Internet) Strong strategic and analytical skills |
Languages | Mission language is essential. (English & Arabic). |
Knowledge | Essential: 2 years of working experience in nursing management. MSF experience is a plus |
