General objectives of the function:
Defining, coordinating and monitoring all pharmacy related activities in the project area including management of staff, according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures and the mission’s pharmacist and Medical Coordinator’s guidelines, in order to ensure the proper management and supply of drugs and medical devices.
Duties and responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include:
- Participating actively in the definition and update of the annual planning and budgets of the pharmacy activities in the project.
- Supervising the central pharmacy and peripheral units’ operations, establishing protocols to ensure service quality, including pharmacovigilance when needed.
- Defining storage, stock management, supply processes, and hygiene/security protocols (including pest control) to ensure proper storage conditions and accurate, hygienic handling of products and equipment in project pharmacies.
- Providing support in the ordering and supply of medicines and medical devices, monitoring stock management across project pharmacies to ensure accurate data, prevent expiries, overstocks, and stockouts. Reporting on drug consumption and device dispensing per protocols, and alerting on unusual usage patterns.
- Collaborating with the logistic manager to ensure proper cold chain, storage conditions (humidity, temperature, light, cleanliness, pest control), and that medicines and materials are classified and organized per MSF protocols.
- Ensuring data collection for monitoring medicine use quality and quantity; supporting service-level activities for drug distribution, quality prescribing, medicines reconciliation, antibiotic stewardship, pharmaceutical care follow-up, patient counseling, dispensing, and safe medication practices.
- Supervising, coaching, motivating, and evaluating pharmacy staff to ensure adherence to procedures and protocols, including proper use of clothing and equipment like white coats and gloves.To define, if needed, training opportunities for the medical staff.
- Carrying out all reporting tasks within his/her field, ensuring consistency and accuracy to support decision-making, and participating in monthly reports (SitReps, medical statistics reports, etc.) according to guidelines.
- Planning and supervising, in coordination with HR, staff processes (recruitment, training, evaluation, potential detection, development, communication) to ensure appropriate sizing and the amount of knowledge required.
- Overall management of the project pharmacy in Damazin, analysing different parameters of stock management according to the MSF standard templates using the standard tools. and share it with the line manager proactively. To update medical team on regular base on sleeping items, pre ruptures, ruptures near to expiry drugs etc….. and to propose the possible solutions for the rational use.
- To support the medical team, in areas where the activities are in collaboration with MOH. In regular pharmacy orders, consumptions, also conduct trainings where needed for better understanding of protocols, stock management at the end user level.
- Conduct regular visits to PHCCs, Mobile clinics, CTC, ITFC and ensure good pharmacy practices, supervising the activities and give the timely feedback. Follow up of consumptions in different end users CTC, ITFC, mobile clinics and staff health in collaboration with the medical team. Facilitate good collaborations with other actors.
- In collaboration with supply, log coordination, plan the chronogram for the activities of pharmacy and do the follow up regularly. Effectively coordinate with the team during meeting and one to one discussion when needed.
- Ensure on-job and/ or theoretical training for the pharmacy storekeepers using MSF validated training material.
Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Minimum:
Essential: Pharmacy degree (or equivalent 4-5 years Degree according to the country of origin of the pharmacist)
Essential: 2 Years of demonstrated experience, as a pharmacy supervisor with MSF required.
Other NGO’s as Pharmacy Responsible in developing countries is desirable.
Knowledge and Skills:
Essential: Local language ( local language),

Essential: Computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
