Supporting the Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (Watsan) Manager in the implementation and supervision of Watsan activities in Kosti, Tandalti and any other city in White Nile and Senar States, including tools and materials employed according to MSF standards and protocols, in order to improve health and living conditions of the target population

Ensuring the day-to-day implementation and administration of assigned Watsan activities at project level, including but not limited to, water supply, excreta disposal, waste management, vector control, and dead bodies management.

•        Ensuring that the MSF procedures and protocols are followed by the Watsan teams to guarantee the operational quality of the project.

•        Ensuring the maintenance and repair of technical equipment in the project to guarantee an adequate running of Watsan activities.

•        Ensuring the distribution of the materials and tools used in water treatment, hygiene and sanitation (e.g. physical organization and inventory of stocks, receiving and processing orders for water, sanitation and hygiene material, check that the amounts received are recorded, and check monthly consumptions, etc.).

•        Supporting the Watsan Manager in ensuring an appropriate emergency preparedness and response capacity (physical verification of stocks, contacts, transport means, staff training). Ensuring appropriate assistance to the project response team and if required, participating in emergency activities (as cholera outbreaks) or exploratory visits.

•        Supporting the Watsan Manager in the team planning (e.g. staff rosters and admin, HR processes, etc.) and informing and involving the Watsan Manager in case of any major management or technical issue, and providing all required reporting

•        Planning and supervising the HR processes (training, performance evaluation, tasks definition and internal and external communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required for the activity

•        Participating in data collection and reporting as required

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

·       Carry out assessments in collaboration with medical teams, identifying water and sanitation needs and offering recommendations to the WatSan Manager based on findings and appropriate responses. Participate in the development of water and sanitation emergency strategies and response plans, including resources, in collaboration with WatSan Manager, medical and logistics teams.

·       Accompaniment in the identification of WASH needs in the communities, proposal of solutions and implementation with the support of the Watsan Manager.

·       Ensure adequate monitoring of activities implemented in coordination with other actors (other organizations, community members, etc.) and guarantee that MSF standards are met.

·       Prepare monthly Roster for watsan team and insure proper follow up.

·       Monitor water, sanitation, waste management and vector control indicators in health facilities and outreach.

Weekly reporting of watsan activities, including water consumption, achievements, challenges and next period

 planning.

·       Assess, agree, and implement solutions with Watsan Manager to ensure MSF minimum standards and improvements in WASH standards in health facilities and outreach.

·       Support the procurement team in all WatSan-related activities it manages (product quality validation).

·       Collaborate in building the mission’s WatSan strategy in White Nile and Senar states, always in line with project priorities.

EducationTechnical diploma in Civil engineering, sanitary and environmental engineering, geology, public health, architecture, biological sciences, environmental sciences, or related areas. Desirable specialization in water and sanitation
ExperiencePrevious experience in technical works and organising of multiple activities, preferably within MSF or similar work environment. At least 2 years of experience with water, sanitation, hygiene projects, IPC protocols, waste management, medical waste management projects. Experience or facility in conducting training.
Languages            English and Arabic, mandatories.
