Qatar Charity – Sudan Office announces its need to hire a full-time Sudanese Accountant. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Requirements:

  • The applicant must hold a university degree in Accounting.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, ACCA.
  • Previous experience working with international non-governmental organizations (INGOs).
  • Practical experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 (MCD 365).
  • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the accounting department.
  • Preference will be given to candidates proficient in Arabic.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Direct Supervisor: Office Manager / Finance Manager
  • Subordinates: Assistant Accountant
  • Internal Contacts: Financial Department, Field Office Management, Operations Sector Managers, International Programs Departments

Job Purpose Summary:

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining the books, records, and financial accounts of the field office; preparing financial statements, reports, and final accounts in accordance with the accounting standards adopted by the organization and the host country; following up on the budget; and ensuring proper application of approved financial policies, systems, and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing the estimated budget in coordination with the Office Manager, monitoring its implementation, and submitting periodic follow-up reports.
  • Recording accounting transactions and ensuring their proper reflection in financial statements and reports, classified according to approved accounting principles and standards.
  • Conducting monthly bank reconciliations and submitting bank statements showing system-approved balances to the direct financial supervisor.
  • Ensuring that financial terms of contracts or disbursements are met before receiving goods or services.
  • Protecting the office’s assets and investments, ensuring proper registration in the books according to approved policies, and updating the fixed assets register regularly.
  • Periodic verification of project and sponsorship balances in the office, indicating any surplus or deficit, and submitting periodic reports.
  • Preparing financial statements, reports, and final accounts.

Additional Duties:

  • Membership in procurement committees.
  • Membership in asset and property inventory committees.
  • Contributing to the annual evaluation of the Assistant Accountant.
  • Performing any additional accounting duties assigned by the direct financial supervisor within the scope of the role.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Financial Accounting or Finance.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in an accounting position.

Skills:

  • Full knowledge of accounting treatments for financial statement items.
  • Experience in preparing the annual budget and detailed budgets for programs and activities.
  • Proficiency in Arabic and English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of budget preparation methods.
  • Knowledge of preparing annual entries and inventory adjustments.
  • Experience using accounting software and ERP systems.

Abilities:

  • Ability to take responsibility and complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide suitable solutions to increase effectiveness.
