Job Purpose:
The incumbent will be responsible to strengthen the information flow and visibility of UNFPA’s assistance by leading the implementation of the communication strategy of the Country Office. will also be responsible for designing and implementing CO communications and advocacy campaigns and handling the CO website and some of its social media accounts. You will lead and/or coordinate the creation of audio-visual multi-media content and drive the effective use of design and branding in communications across the CO.
You would be responsible for:
1. Communication and advocacy campaigns
• Develop or adapt and implement high-impact communications and advocacy campaigns and activities
• Develop innovative campaign ideas, concepts and strategies in consultation with relevant topic leads
• Craft user-friendly and concise online communications and advocacy messages, including drafting new content and editing existing website/Extranet/Intranet content
• Design, or coordinate the design of, quality visual and other campaign assets
• Contribute to the production of quality advocacy and knowledge products
• Share campaign materials with Country Offices and other stakeholders, influencers and partners, and engage them in campaign roll-outs
• Monitor, analyse and report campaign reach and impact
2. Audio-visual multi-media content
• Conceptualize, design, and execute creative, innovative and engaging audio-visual content for use on social media, including video and infographics/data visualizations
• Consult with, and engage, relevant stakeholders in development and production process
• Advise clients on design style, formats, production requirements and timelines
• Liaise with external service providers, including designers, videographers, photographers and translators
• Conceptualize and oversee the Office’s digital asset management system
3. Social media and public website
• Continuously monitor the social media environment, identify opportunities and develop ideas for engagement.
• Manage and monitor image-based CO social media accounts
• Maintain the CO public website
• Set up and promote online events
4. Design and branding
• Drive effective use of design and branding in the CO in line with UNFPA guidelines and policies
• Develop style and brand guides for CO programmes and campaigns
• Oversee design style and brand compliance
• Provide art direction to contractors and in-house creatives
5. Knowledge building and sharing
• Provide advice and support to Country Offices and Programmes, including with regard to communication and advocacy campaigns and the development of print and audio-visual materials..
• Offer training and other capacity-building activities to Country Office communications staff
• Carry out other related tasks as required
Qualifications and Experience
Education and Experience:
Advanced degree in digital communications, journalism, public relations, or related fields with minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in digital communications and advocacy or related fields
Knowledge
• Proven track record of designing effective online communication campaigns
• Strong experience in developing audio-visual content and working with vendors
• Excellent design skills and experience in working with graphic/video design software, preferably Adobe Creative Cloud
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with UNFPA and its areas of work is an advantage
• Experience working in a multicultural and online environment
• Excellent English language writing and editing skills
• Excellent communication and advocacy skills
Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of the Arabic language is desirable
