Duties and Qualifications
IT Internship
Specific tasks to be performed by the IT intern:
Under the overall guidance of the Snr IT SDM Officer in Sudan and directly reporting to the IT SDM Officer, specific assignments may include but not limited to:
¿ Support IT team with the drafting and editing of IT user guides, IT training presentations, official communications etc.
¿ Assist the office with electronic file storage and archiving of hardcopy files in office
¿ Assist staff with the usage of IT services such as the tele/video conferences, virtual meeting rooms and events
¿ Assist in-office IT activities of User Management Portal, email distribution lists, printing and scanning services, Staff directory update
¿ Any other tasks as may be assigned
Qualifications/Skills: Education:
Currently enrolled in a degree program or recently graduated with bachelor¿s degree from a recognized institution in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Exceptions can be made for students finishing a bachelor¿s degree, with other relevant qualifications and interested in IT.
Skills:
¿ Strong interest working in the UN system;
¿ Demonstrable skills in analytical thinking, communication and research;
¿ Good IT competence, command of Microsoft office 365 and Windows 10 operating system programmes, internet communication, social media and searching skills;
¿ Document and graphic design skills an asset;
¿ Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work under pressure within an international setting;
¿ Ability to perform a variety of administrative tasks;
¿ Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and a strong team working capacity.
Language:
Excellent knowledge of English with fluency in speaking, reading, and writing. Arabic: Desirable.

Eligibility:
- In order to be considered eligible for an internship, the following criteria must be fulfilled:
¿ Be a recent graduate or current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO; and
¿ Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of the Organization.
- An individual whose father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister is a staff member of UNHCR, including a Temporary Appointment holder or a member of the Affiliate Workforce, is not eligible for an internship.
Responsibilities and obligations:
Intern shall:
¿ Undertake and perform, to the best of their abilities, the tasks stated in the Terms of Reference for the internship;
¿ Complete all mandatory UNHCR online training programmes that are applicable to UNHCR personnel;
¿ Adhere to the same standards of conduct as applicable to UNHCR personnel and international civil servants;
¿ Maintain awareness of and compliance with security policies and guidelines applicable to the duty station;
¿ Exercise the utmost discretion in all matters related to carrying out functions assigned to them, as well as upholding the impartiality and independence required of UNHCR, including avoiding influence by any government or institution;
¿ Maintain confidentiality of all unpublished information made known to them during the course of the internship, including as stated within the Internship Agreement;
¿ Obtain written authorization from the supervisor to use any UNHCR materials or information outside of UNHCR or to communicate with the media or any institution, government or other external source during and after the internship if the use or communication relates to information obtained in the course of the internship with UNHCR. Furthermore, interns cannot represent UNHCR in any official capacity; and
¿ Provide full and timely cooperation with any inspection, audit or investigation, including making available any relevant documentation for such purposes.
