Purpose of the position:
The position holder will be responsible for actual implementation of nutrition activities (Treatment of MAM, Home Fortification and Emergency Blanket Supplementary Feeding Programme) including supervision of community mobilizers, measurers, and distributors.
Duties and responsibilities:
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Coordinate all activities under the project with the existing structures from the MoH Nutrition department.
- Supervise all the project teams in the field including 2 locality nutrition officers, Nutrition assistants and Community nutrition volunteers in all the targeted nutrition centers.
- Compile and prepare relevant reports in close coordination with the Nutrition Database Officer (monthly reports, field visit reports, training reports)
- Adhere to, follow, and maintain Community-based Nutrition Integrated Programme (CNIP) protocol and standards during the entire implementation of the program.
- With support from the Nutrition Coordinator/Advisor, organize refresher training on anthropometric measurement, nutrition, and health counseling for Community Mobilizers.
- Together with the Nutrition Database Officer, ensure that all data collected during the screening is recorded in the registration book and linked to the ration card through unique serial numbers.
- Ensure all cases of malnutrition are referred to the respective treatment programme (SC/OTP/TSFP).
- Supervise the distribution of dry ration and micronutrient powders for children 6-23 months and PLW.
- Conduct regular follow – up meetings with seconded locality nutritionists and Community Mobilizers/Community nutrition volunteers to assess their performance and to discuss the future.
- Ensure the appropriate Social and behavior change, and nutrition messages are provided and understood by all beneficiaries.
- Support the implementation of family MUAC, mass MUAC screening and mother support group.
- Support with development IEC material relevant to Gedaref context where necessary.
- Conduct regular monitoring visits of program activities Including joint supervision visit
- Actively participate and represent WHH in nutrition sector in the Gedaref State.
- In close coordination with Deputy Head of Project/Coordinator ,liaise with WHH team at field level as well as with nutrition advisor at CO throughout the entire project timeline for outcomes.
- Support all procurement processes required for the project.
- Have regular update meetings with the Senior Nutrition advisor in Country office.
- Perform any other tasks as may be required by the direct supervisor.
- Adhere to the code of conduct of WHH.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Education degree: BSC in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, or a related field with relevant work experience
- Experience in database management for nutrition programs
- Good understanding of GOS protocols, guidelines, strategies, policies related to nutrition and food security
- 3 to 5 years work experience, in nutrition field,
experience in implementation social and behavior change programming (various approaches), IYCF and IYCF-E, nutrition-sensitive and nutrition specific including TSFPs, eBSFPs, home-fortification
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
The desired knowledge, skills and abilities for this position may be acquired through a combination of formal education, prior experience or on-the-job training.
