MAIN PURPOSE:  As a Data Collector, you will be responsible for gathering, recording, and managing data relevant to our project. Your work will be critical to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of data that drives decision-making, reporting, and evaluation processes. You will engage with various stakeholders, including community members, project staff, and other partners, to collect quantitative and qualitative data through surveys, interviews, observation, or other methods.

  • Participate in collecting data accurately at the field level 
  • Conduct field visits to distribution sites and do accountability sessions with beneficiaries.
  • Conduct On-Site monitoring and post-Distribution Monitoring (OSM and PDM) data collection along with distribution monitoring.
  • Document all the findings in the provided data collection tools.
  • Compiling and sorting the field data collection tools as directed by the supervisor.
  • Ensure collected data is accurately recorded.
  • Report daily issues and challenges to the MEAL assistant/officers.
  • Promote for BFD hotline number for accountability (60106).
  • Prepare the day-to-day reports & follow up with action points.
  • Follow confidentiality and security procedures to ensure respondents’ privacy is protected.
  • Report any breach of BFD policy regarding the code of conduct, Safeguarding, or any behavior that might affect BFD’s reputation.
  • Any other duties assigned by the line Manager.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree,or equivalent; associate degree in social sciences, statistics, public health, or a related field is preferred.
  • Diploma in English from a well-knowing institution/university.
  • Minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible experience in data collection, research, or fieldwork is an advantage.
  • Language: Good in English and in the local language of the duty station required.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure data accuracy and quality.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills and ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders in a sensitive environment. S/he must be able to respond quickly to requests for information.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with great attention to detail, capable of managing various logistical tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and experience with logistics management software or ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, stakeholders, and communities.
  • Problem-solving attitude and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel independently, including to rural communities.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems, processes, and procedures and adapt local practices to global standards.
  • Talent for organizing and cataloging information is essential.
  • Ability and willingness to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to interact well with people and proven experience of building strong relationships with community members 
  • Committed to the values and ethics of BFD.

Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS): The role holder is required to carry out the duties in adherence to the Core Humanitarian Standards, the values and principles outlined in BFD’s policies such as Code of Conduct, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Child Safeguarding, Anti Workplace Harassment, Fiscal Integrity, Anti-Retaliation, and other internal policies and guidelines.
