MAIN PURPOSE: This position assists in the day-to-day key aspects of accounting, and financial management roles in ensuring that the finance department accounting functions are planned, administered, and managed adequately and efficiently to meet the Finance Department objectives. This position provides specific support to the Sudan Finance Department and assists in the administration of the financial/business functions of the unit.

  • Apply principles of accounting to record financial information and prepare financial reports by, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of all accounting transactions by financial procedures.
  • Prepare all necessary information for internal or external audits.
  • Provide training on financial policies/procedures to relevant staff and ensure effective communication of new policies/procedures to all staff. Ensure the established financial/accounting systems, policies, procedures and routines are properly understood and undertaken by all staff and by BFD Finance policies.
  • Review all documents submitted for the project payment to ensure proper procedures have been followed before releasing the payment.
  • Maintenance of all project accounting records, ensuring that records are complete, accurate and safeguarded
  • Prepares Bank Reconciliations
  • Maintains, and coordinates the implementation of accounting and control procedures.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly coded and recorded.
  • Make sure that the budget vs actual analysis for the projects is properly prepared.
  • Prepare all financial reports according to the month-end requirements.
  • Follow up and supervise the finance assistants make sure that there is no delay in the payment process, and make sure that any pending payment is processed.
  • Review the payroll before submitting it to the Finance Manager.
  • Prepare the spending plan for the projects.
  • Develop smart report tools to facilitate the reporting mechanism.
  • Ensure all employees and suppliers’ contracts are properly prepared.
  • Ensure that the cost allocations for the operational expenses and personnel staff are properly prepared.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in preparing projects and BFD master budgets.
  • Ensure that internal control and segregation of duties are in place.
  • Interacts with internal and external auditors of regular audits as needed.
  • Any other assignment requested by the Senior Finance officer & Finance Manager

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the field of work with national or international organizations.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written(required).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills,
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Financial analysis and reporting skills.
  • High integrity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle sensitive situations diplomatically

Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS): The role holder is required to carry out the duties in adherence to the Core Humanitarian Standards, the values and principles outlined in BFD’s policies such as Code of Conduct, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Child Safeguarding, Anti Workplace Harassment, Fiscal Integrity, Anti-Retaliation, and other internal policies and guidelines.
