Background:

CRS Sudan will be implementing an emergency food security program to address acute food security shocks in Sudan. The project will serve as a food pipeline for affected populations in Central and West Darfur.

Job Summary: 

As a member of the project team, you will lead and supervise all distribution processes to support high-quality programming. Your experience of in-kind distributions will ensure that CRS delivers high-quality programming and continuously works towards improving the impact of its food programming.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Organize, coordinate and lead food distribution activities in the field in line with CRS standards, donor requirements and good practices.
  • Ensure full involvement of the community, community leaders, and local government staff in the overall implementation of the project activities.
  • Ensure efficient and effective programme implementation while following the budget and work plan
  • Lead the team in carrying out food distribution
  • Provide technical support and inputs
  • Organize periodic capacity building training for the community animators and Food Relief Committees (FRCs) and follow-up progress and report results to Distribution Manager.
  • Make periodic food distribution reports.

Basic requirements:

  • Ag Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in the sector.
  • Proven experience in organizing distributions and managing distribution teams.
  • Skill in the use of computers and software related to the job.

Required Languages –Fluent written and spoken Arabic; fluent written and spoken English a value added.

Travel  Must be able and willing to travel up to 50%, including remote field locations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong planning, coordination, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Ethical conduct in accordance with recognized professional and organizational codes of ethics
  • Good communication and relationship management skills
  • Proactive, resourceful, solutions-oriented and results-oriented
  • Experience in managing logistics teams, including senior roles at managerial level
  • Ability and willingness to travel to all CRS targeted geographic areas. 
  • Experienced in team development and capacity building.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of USAID/Title II rules and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills and attention to details.
  • High degree of initiative, integrity and accountability.
  • Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work effectively with culturally diverse groups.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and service-oriented
  • Demonstrate ability to work under stressful conditions
  • Strong preference will be given to candidate staff originally and currently residents in CRS projects targeted areas. 
  • Strong preference will be given to good command in English language.

Key Working Relationships

Supervisory: Food distributors.

Internal: Work in collaboration with the commodity accountant, the Targeting Program Manager I, Targeting Senior Project Office, and the HelpDesk/Community Sensitization Team, the Commodity Operations team, the warehouse management team and the Risk and Compliance team.

External: Working relationship with local government stakeholders.
