Duties and responsibilities:
Background:
CRS Sudan will be implementing an emergency food security program to address acute food security shocks in Sudan. The project will serve as a food pipeline for affected populations in Central and West Darfur.
Job Summary:
As a lead for the JEOP commodity monitoring team, you will facilitate the achievement of project objectives through coordinating and reporting on all project monitoring activities and providing technical guidance and advice to staff and implementing partners advancing Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your coordination and relationship management skills will ensure that the project for which you are responsible applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate commodity monitoring unit. Directly supervise Field Officers, coordinating their activities and ensuring that monitoring standards needed for electronic data collection are in place.
- Ensures that JEOP Minimum Standards for Commodity Management, GACAP (Generally Accepted Commodity Accounting Principles) and other donor principles are adhered and implemented during commodity monitoring and data collection in the field/final distribution points and commodities handled in line with those standards.
- Develop monthly monitoring plans based on the Project distribution cycles and partner distribution schedules, share plans with project partners. Prepare monitoring reports for each Final Distribution Point (FDP) visited, including findings identified from monitoring checklist.
- Organize and lead the implementation of commodity monitoring project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
- Considers relevant security issues by coordinating with CRS security focal point.
- Ensure cross-learning amongst the consortium accompanies monitoring activities throughout the project cycle.
- Analyze implementation challenges and report any inconsistencies and/or gaps to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
- Support and coordinate capacity building and technical support activities to ensure monitoring activities are implemented per guidelines and standards.

- Ensure project documentation for assigned activities is complete with all required documents and is filed per agency and donor requirements. Assist with preparation of trends analysis reports and documentation of case studies and promising practices
- Coordinate provision of any logistical and administrative support to staff and partners.
Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
Basic requirements:
Education and Experience
- University Degree in Social Science, Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years ideally in the field of Food Security or Commodity Management with an NGO.
- Additional education may substitute for some experience.
- Knowledge of USAID/Title II rules and regulations.
- Staff supervision experience a plus.
- Experience working with partners, participatory action planning and community engagement.
- Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Required/Desired Foreign Language: Fluent written and spoken English is required; fluent written and spoken Arabic is preferred.
Travel Required (include percentage of required travel, if applicable): 40% of field travel is required
