Duties And Responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative (FAOR) in Sudan and under Direct Supervision of the Sector Coordinators in Khartoum and Team Leader of FAO Field/State Offices, the incumbent will perform the following tasks:

  1. Responsible for field implementation and monitoring of FAO emergency livelihood support projects in in his duty state according to FAO projects implementation and monitoring system and submit plans of action to the FAO Team Leader in his duty station and the concerned Sector Coordinators in Khartoum.
  2. Ensure the appropriate storage of inputs and supplies under the responsibility of the FAO state office in and act as a technical advisor in checking the technical specifications of the inputs.
  3. Participate in the selection of implementing partners (IPS) in consultation with the team leader of FAO in his duty station.
  4. Ensure timely delivery of different inputs to IPs as per the Letter of Agreement (LoAs).
  5. Prepare and implement a monitoring plan for each signed LOA in consultation with the respective IPs and submit regular reports.
  6. Prepare appropriate tools for monitoring the IPs’ field work and the results achieved, in consultation with the team leader and the concerned sector coordinator in FAO Khartoum.
  7. Liaise with other organizations that provide agricultural livestock support in the state in order to exchange experiences, and avoid overlapping.
  8. Write a comprehensive evidence-based monitoring report for each completed LOA, after the completion of the LoA and indicate what kind of impacts the activity may have on the familles, children, women and men in the targeted communities.
  9. Participate in the inter-agency needs assessments and/or food security and livelihoods assessments conducted by the Line ministries;
  10. In consultation with the sector coordinators, regularly collect, analyze and update relevant information about all the key issues related to agriculture, horticulture, livestock, environment, NRM land and water, markets and food security, in South Darfur State.
  11. Perform any other work/ related tasks as requested;

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Applications will not be considered from candidates who do not possess ALL of the Essential Qualifications.

Education: University Degree in Agriculture, veterinary, animal production, or related fields.
Experience: 5 Years in a relevant field.
Other: Working knowledge of the English language.

Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to an evolving and complex humanitarian context and within multidisciplinary and different cultural background teams;
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of agriculture, food security, livelihoods and value chains in the context of Sudan;
  • Experience or familiarity with food security and livelihoods assessments methodologies, including surveillance or monitoring systems, Post-Disaster Needs Assessments, Damage and Losses assessments, agricultural production assessment, market analysis, and/or value chain analysis;
  • Experience in survey des sampling, data collection, data analysis, and interpretation for assessment processes in agriculture and food security;
  • Expertise in remote data collection including phone or web-based surveys and/or remote-sensing would be a plus;
  • Working knowledge of advanced statistics with ability to use statistical software packages (in particular SPSS STATA and/or R);
  • Proven data visualization and reporting skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Coordination skills with strong individual planning capacity,
  • Knowledge of humanitarian principles.
