POSITION OVERVIEW

The Protection Officer/PSEA Focal Point will be responsible for leading and coordinating protection activities, with a focus on preventing sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), within MedGlobal, the officer will ensure the implementation of protection measures, promote a safe and inclusive environment, and provide guidance on PSEA policies and procedures. The Protection Officer/PSEA Focal Point will work closely with staff, partners, and communities to strengthen protection mechanisms and uphold ethical standards in all aspects of the organization’s work.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Protection Program Management:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor protection programs and initiatives in line with MedGlobal’s mission and international standards.
  • Conduct assessments to identify protection risks, vulnerabilities, and needs of target populations.
  • Design and deliver protection interventions, including prevention and response activities.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams on protection mainstreaming and integration.
  • Ensure the integration of gender, diversity, and inclusion considerations into protection programming.
• PSEA Coordination and Guidance:
  • Serve as the focal point for PSEA issues within the organization, promoting a zero-tolerance approach to sexual exploitation and abuse.
  • Develop and implement PSEA policies, procedures, and codes of conduct in accordance with global and local standards.
  • Provide training and capacity-building activities to staff, partners, and volunteers on PSEA, ethical conduct, and prevention of harassment.
  • Conduct regular monitoring and investigations related to PSEA incidents, ensuring timely reporting and appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Support survivors of sexual exploitation and abuse, ensuring access to safe and confidential reporting mechanisms and appropriate assistance.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships:
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including government authorities, community leaders, and partner organizations, to promote protection principles and practices.
  • Establish and maintain networks and partnerships with local organizations and community-based protection structures.
  • Participate in protection coordination mechanisms, working groups, and inter-agency initiatives to ensure a coordinated response.
  • Advocate for the integration of protection concerns into broader humanitarian and development efforts.
• Capacity Building and Training:
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops on protection, human rights, and PSEA for staff, partners, and community members.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff and volunteers in implementing protection activities and mainstreaming protection across programs.
  • Develop and adapt training materials and resources on protection and PSEA.
• Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness and impact of protection interventions.
  • Collect and analyze data related to protection risks, incidents, and outcomes to inform program improvements.
  • Prepare regular reports on protection activities, including progress, challenges, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, international development, human rights, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in protection programming, with specific experience in PSEA.
• Strong knowledge of international protection frameworks, human rights principles, and PSEA standards.
• Experience in developing and implementing PSEA policies, codes of conduct, and awareness-raising campaigns.
• Familiarity with protection mainstreaming and integration approaches.
• Knowledge of gender, diversity, and inclusion considerations in protection programming.
• Experience in conducting protection assessments, monitoring, and evaluation.
• Proven ability to provide training and capacity-building support to staff and partners.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Must be Sudanese Nationality.
