POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Security & Safety Officer at MedGlobal, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our staff, volunteers, and the communities we serve. Your primary responsibility will be to develop, implement, and maintain security protocols and safety measures to minimize risks and promote a secure environment for our operations. You will work closely with the security team, program staff, and local stakeholders to mitigate potential threats and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Security Management:
  • Conduct regular security assessments and risk analysis in the areas of operation.
  • Develop and implement security protocols, policies, and procedures in alignment with MedGlobal’s security guidelines.
  • Monitor the security situation in the operational areas and provide timely updates and recommendations to the management.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, partner organizations, and stakeholders to establish effective security networks and communication channels.
  • Conduct training sessions on security awareness and emergency response procedures for staff and volunteers.
• Crisis and Emergency Response:
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive crisis management plan, including contingency plans for various emergency scenarios.
  • Coordinate and lead emergency response drills and simulations to ensure preparedness and efficiency in crisis situations.
  • Provide immediate response and support in the event of security incidents, natural disasters, or other emergencies.
  • Collaborate with local authorities and organizations to coordinate evacuation, medical assistance, and other necessary responses during emergencies.
• Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards in all operational areas.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and implement preventive measures to mitigate risks.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs to enhance the safety culture among staff and volunteers.
• Incident Reporting and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of security incidents, safety inspections, and emergency response activities.
  • Prepare incident reports detailing the nature of the incident, response actions, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure incidents are appropriately documented and reported to the management.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in security management, international relations, or a related field. Relevant certifications are a plus.
• Proven experience (minimum of 3-5 years) in security and safety management, preferably in humanitarian or non-profit organizations.
• Strong knowledge of security risk assessment methodologies, crisis management, and emergency response procedures.
• Familiarity with international security standards and best practices in humanitarian operations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
• Proficiency in using security-related software and technologies.
• Willingness to travel frequently to operational areas and work in challenging and remote environments.
• Fluent in written and spoken English. Additional languages, especially those relevant to MedGlobal’s operations, are an advantage.
• Must be Sudanese Nationality.
