POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Health & Nutrition Officer will provide technical leadership and strategic oversight to the health and nutrition programs of MedGlobal, The officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring health and nutrition interventions, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and promoting the well-being of vulnerable populations. The Senior Health & Nutrition Officer will collaborate with partners, stakeholders, and communities to strengthen health systems, improve health outcomes, and address nutritional needs in the target areas.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Program Management and Technical Support:
    • Develop, implement, and monitor health and nutrition programs in alignment with MedGlobal’s strategic objectives and international standards.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to the health and nutrition teams, ensuring effective program implementation and adherence to best practices.
    • Conduct assessments to identify health and nutrition needs, gaps, and priorities of the target populations.
    • Design evidence-based interventions, protocols, and guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of common health conditions and nutritional deficiencies.
    • Ensure integration of gender, diversity, and inclusion considerations in all health and nutrition activities.
  • Capacity Building and Training:
    • Provide capacity-building support to staff, health workers, and community volunteers on health and nutrition topics.
    • Develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and mentoring sessions to enhance the knowledge and skills of the team members and partners.
    • Strengthen the capacity of local health systems to deliver quality health and nutrition services.
    • Promote community engagement and participation in health and nutrition initiatives through awareness-raising and health promotion activities.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Quality Assurance:
    • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact and effectiveness of health and nutrition programs.
    • Collect, analyze, and report program data, including health indicators, nutritional status, and service utilization rates.
    • Conduct regular monitoring visits to project sites, ensuring adherence to program objectives, quality standards, and protocols.
    • Identify gaps and challenges in program implementation and propose corrective actions and improvements.
    • Collaborate with the M&E team to ensure data-driven decision-making and accountability.
  • Coordination and Partnership:
    • Coordinate with government authorities, local health departments, and partner organizations to strengthen health systems and promote collaboration.
    • Participate in health coordination meetings, working groups, and technical forums to share experiences and contribute to sector-wide strategies.
    • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with local health facilities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated response.
    • Advocate for the integration of health and nutrition considerations in broader humanitarian and development initiatives.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare timely and accurate reports on health and nutrition activities, progress, challenges, and lessons learned.
    • Contribute to donor reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with funding regulations and standards.
    • Maintain proper documentation of program activities, including success stories, case studies, and best practices.
    • Support the dissemination of knowledge and learning through internal and external channels.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in public health, nutrition, or a related field. A medical degree with additional qualifications in public health or nutrition is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and nutrition program management, preferably in humanitarian or low-resource settings.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of public health, primary healthcare, and nutrition interventions.
  • Experience in designing and implementing health and nutrition programs, including maternal and child health, reproductive health, infectious diseases, and nutrition-sensitive interventions.
  • Knowledge of international health and nutrition guidelines, standards, and best practices.
  • Proven experience in capacity building, training, and mentoring of health professionals
  • Must be Sudanese Nationality.
