 MSF-Swiss is seeking to employ 1 (one) qualified candidate in the Khartoum Project for the position of Nursing Team Supervisor (NTS). Interested applicants may find the detailed job description of this position below.

Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning nursing and the team associated, according to MSF values, policies, and protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the quality and continuity of the health care and the development of the plan of action.

  • Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e. perform as a nurse or anaesthetist nurse, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience. 
  • Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality.
  • Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
  • Carry out and/or supervise the (decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.) in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the biomedical service.
  • Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking.
  • Give feedback/ reports to a medical focal point.

The Nursing Team Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of nursing activities in the Primary Health Care (PHC) services, ensuring quality clinical care in outpatient consultations, nutrition program, maternal and child health, and preventative services in line with national/MSF guidelines.

  • Supervise the daily clinical activities of the nursing team across departments, ensuring adherence to standard treatment protocols. Monitor the triage, consultation, treatment, and referral procedures. Ensure the availability and use of medical equipment, supplies, and medications across areas.
  • Conduct regular coaching and clinical mentoring for nursing staff, identifying areas for improvement and knowledge gaps. Organize and facilitate in-service training sessions on clinical topics, infection control, medication management, and nutrition protocols. Ensure the team adheres to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) standards and safe medical practices.
  • Ensure that medical records, registers, and reporting tools are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Provide regular feedback to staff based on performance monitoring and health outcome data.
  • Coordinate with the pharmacy and logistics teams to ensure regular stock checks and prevent medication shortages. Participate in internal coordination meetings, representing the nursing team and contributing to planning and problem-solving.
  • Strengthen referral and follow-up systems between the community, PHC and hospital.

Education: Speciality (nurse or anaesthetist nurse) diploma essential.

Experience: Essential 2 years of previous experience. Having worked in MSF or other NGO’s and in developing countries is desirable. Previous supervision/management experience preferred.

Language: Fluent spoken and written Arabic and English

Knowledge: 

  • Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel, and the internet)
