MSF‑Swiss is launching a recruitment for the position of Paediatrician.
This recruitment aims to identify and pre‑validate qualified medical professionals who can be rapidly mobilized when operational needs arise, including emergencies. Successful candidates will be placed in an MSF-Swiss pool and will not receive an employment contract at this time. Main Purpose of the position:
Providing outpatient and/or inpatient paediatric care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values, and universal hygiene standards to improve the newborn and child/beneficiaries’ health conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Care & Quality of Services
- Ensure provision of high-quality pediatric care across all supported facilities (hospital pediatric department and PHCCs).
- Participate in daily major rounds and provide clinical support to MoH medical staff.
- Review, implement, and monitor admission and discharge criteria for pediatric departments.
- Validate laboratory requests and ensure appropriate use of the service in line with the laboratory investigation agreement.
- Identify gaps in pediatric service delivery and contribute to improvement plans.
- Support implementation of infection prevention and control (IPC) and patient safety measures.
- Support OPD services and nutrition activities, including outreach programs.
Capacity Building, Training & Mentorship
- Train, coach, and mentor medical doctors and healthcare teams in MSF/MoH protocols, guidelines, and clinical standards.
- Develop and implement a training plan and chronogram based on identified staff needs.
- Support continuous professional development through on-the-job training, case discussions, and bedside teaching.
- Facilitate and participate in mortality reviews and clinical audits.
- Strengthen the capacity of teams to work independently while maintaining quality standards.
Program Coordination & Collaboration
- Work closely with the Medical Activity Manager (MAM) and Nursing Activity Manager (NAM) to implement clinical guidelines and insurance of service provision.
- Maintain strong collaboration and engagement with Ministry of Health (MoH) medical staff and counterparts.
- Support the referral systems between PHCCs, hospitals, and other facilities to improve continuity of care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings, if needed.
Documentation & Reporting.
- Ensure and strengthen proper documentation of patients’ files.
- Maintain and regularly update mortality, morbidity, and referral line lists.
- Monitor and report key pediatric indicators and performance trends with MAM.
- Provide inputs for SitReps and regular project reports within established deadlines.
- Report notifiable diseases and outbreaks in a timely manner to MAM and relevant authorities.
- Document and report any critical incidents or events affecting service delivery.
- Support data quality assurance and validation.
Systems Strengthening & SOP Development
- Support development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for pediatric care and referral pathways.
- Establish and monitor referral criteria in coordination with MAM and PMR.
- Ensure alignment with national protocols and MSF standards.
- Participate in improving triage systems and emergency response processes.
Pharmacy & Resource Management
- Provide technical input on medical supply needs, especially pediatric drugs and equipment.
- Monitor availability and rational use of medicines and consumables.
- Ensure appropriate use of hospital and PHCC resources.
- Promote and monitor rational prescription practices, including prescription audits and analysis.
Others :
- Ensure adherence to MSF principles, ethics, and confidentiality standards.
- Perform any additional related tasks as requested by MAM or PMR.
- Maintain flexibility to respond to emergency health needs or outbreaks.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:
Education:
- Pediatrics’ qualification (Medical Doctorate degree in pediatrics specialist).
Experience:
- 3 years’ experience minimum as a Paediatric Doctor in paediatric hospital
Language:
- Fluent Arabic and English are essential
Knowledge:
- Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
- Updates his / her knowledge before each mission, according to the most updated MSF new-born and paediatric protocols
