Summary

The purpose of the Medical Doctor, Stabilization Centre (SC) is to assist in the direct implementation of nutrition interventions in Khor Al Woral with a focus on the nutrition Stabilization Centre. This includes the provision of supervision and training to SC- Nurses and other clinic staff to allow them to implement the activities. He/she will also support other medical assistant/medical doctors in the PHC. In the SC ensuring quality and adequate clinical management of malnourished children with medical complications according to the national and international standards.

Accountabilities

Technical Support and management

  • Provide technical supervision and clinical support to staff based in the Khor Al Woral stabilization center facility. The facility provides inpatient care for malnourished children suffering from additional medical complications.
  • He/she will ensure:
  • The daily clinical examination of all patients in the SC to ensure correct and timely implementation of the protocols in the SC.
  • The prescription of treatment and follow-up of complicated cases
  • The follow-up of prescribed medical treatment, adapting and modifying according to the needs
  • Register every new finding, and treatment procedure performed or prescribed, concisely on the patient’s file.
  • Transfer patients to referral hospital facilities when needed 
  • Provide training (formal and on-job training) to the staff in the SC and other Nutrition clinics.[JO1] 

Safeguarding 

  • Ensure the Safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams’ Protection from Sexual Exploitation and abuse, Child and vulnerable Adult Protection, and harassment-free workplace policies.

Requirements

Education, Licenses, & Certifications

Medical Doctor by qualification.

Experience

  • 2 years of professional experience after the qualification including Pediatric experience.
  • Stabilization center experience at minimum 1 year and with INGOS- desire
  • Experience at PHC, particularly in Nutrition is desired.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge

Extensive knowledge of nutrition principles and management of acute malnutrition 

Skills

  • Fluent in Arabic and local language and English desired.
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Mentoring skills
  • Attentive to detail and problem solving

Abilities

  • Keen desire to build capacity of staff. 
  • Ability to be flexible and manage stress,
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, and a team player
  • Ability to maintain detailed records with high accuracy. 
  • Ability to adhere to the MTI Code of Conduct

Physical Conditions

  • This position requires work at health facilities located in remote areas with very basic living conditions.
