Your purpose as Livelihoods & Food Security Project Manager is technical development, strategic direction, and quality assurance as well as monitoring of NRC Sudan’s LFS activities and programme in Darfur region, as well as relevant staff mentoring and capacity development. The LFS Project Manager is expected to follow NRC’s standards, procedures, and guidelines for project governance applicable for the particular projects. You will be responsible for the overall planning and coordination of all LFS interventions, either directly within the LFS CC or as an integrated approach across other CCs, across the North and West Area Offices

Specific responsibilities: 

  • Oversee timely, efficient and quality implementation of Livelihoods & Food Security programme in Darfur ensuring all documents guiding implementation such as budgets, DIPs, cash forecasts are developed and where necessary updated and used correctly
  • Ensure technical standards and quality of implemented LFS (including Resilience) activities are in line with LFS Country and Area Strategy, and that they meet the requirements of the beneficiaries
  • Close cooperation with Cash & Market team in planning and delivering LFS activities through cash based modalities in Darfur Area.
  • Design and develop program approaches, modalities and activities that can be piloted and then expanded to other project areas [Resilience, Market-Based Programming, etc] 
  • Compliance with donor regulations LFS grant management including regular reporting to donors in collaboration with LFS Specialist, Area Programme Manager or promote where appropriate an Integrated Programme approach for assessments and programme design and liaise with other Core Competency (CC) managers on same
  • Work with M&E Unit in the Area regarding the Complaints Response Mechanism/Digital Community Hub for LFS projects
  • Together with M&E, ensure that required M&E, including baseline, end line, Post Distribution Monitoring carried out. Ensuring adequate and critical analysis of the data, ensuring proper follow up when needed as well as relevant dissemination of produced reports and lessons learned
  • Responsible for Project Cycle Management in Darfur Area, including organizing and following up on Grants Opening, Review and Closure meetings
  • Strengthen LFS partnerships with local partners where relevant, building their capacity, monitoring their performance and ensuring compliance with NRC and donors regulations
  • Represent NRC in technical coordination fora at Area level
  • Ensure NRC procedures (Finance, Logistical) adhered to within LFS team and partners including timely development of procurement plans, recruitment plans, spending plans and ensure the same are shared with relevant support colleagues.

Your value Add: We require that you will bring

  • At least 3 years’ experience in the management of humanitarian and early recovery programs
  • Experience working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Technical expertise in Livelihoods and Food Security
  • Knowledge of the context in Sudan desirable 
  • Solid experience in design, planning and delivery of a wide range of LFS programmatic sectors: emergency access to food, income-generating activities, graduation schemes, entrepreneurship, market-based interventions.
