The purpose of a Logistics assistant is to assist in the day-to-day implementation of the logistics function’s responsibility. 

Generic responsibilities

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines, and donor requirements
  2. Assist with the implementation of the logistic function’s portfolio according to the Plan of Action
  3. Provide logistic administration and basic support  
  4. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management 
  5. Ensure proper filing of all support documents
  6. Assist in the planning and delivery of logistic activity
  7. Maintain logistic records, suppliers, and equipment
  8. Promote and share ideas for improvement of the logistic function
  9. Perform other duties, as assigned by Line Manager

Specific responsibilities 

  1. Preparing lists of items required for the office and liaising between the suppliers and management as required
  2. Receiving of goods as per the PO specifications
  3. Onward freight of goods received at CO to AOs
  4. Preparing stock cards/updating as soon as goods leave the warehouse
  5. Preparation of monthly stock reports
  6. Delivering/collecting documentation at various offices 
  7. Assets management support and update of the register and inventory items
  8. Store reports and support of the monthly stock report preparation
  9. Physical store control, stock, and bin card management
  10. Ensuring cleanliness of the warehouse.
  11. Daily labor planning and guidance

Professional competencies 

Generic professional competencies

  • Basic experience from working as a logistic assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

Context-related skills, knowledge, and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or related disciplines
  • 1-2 years work experience as a Logistic Assistant or similar role
  • Fluent in oral and written English and Arabic
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Achievement of set benchmarks and objectives
  • Ability to communicate effectively and proactively
