Summary:

Under the managerial and technical supervision of the GBV and Protection Manager the GBV Prevention Mobilizer will have overall responsibility for supporting the quality implementation of GBV and Protection activities/mainstreaming in the BHA project implemented in health facilities in the Blue Nile locality.  S/he ensures clinical protocols are followed by clinicians for CMR and holds regular meetings with all HWs and CHWs to identify gaps in GBV and linkages with existing partners supporting protection activities. GBV Awareness and Prevention Mobilizer support protection Manager in the day-to-day administrative running of the Protection program. GBV Awareness and Prevention Mobilizer directly supervises RI-supported clinics in all aspects of GBV/Protection mainstreaming programming and quality assurance for services. 

Essential Job Functions:

Activity implementation

  • Formation of CNPB Networks together with partners in the target communities. 
  • Mobilize and build the capacity of community structures to prevent and respond to GBV
  • Ensure that BHA project GBV and protection activities in the detailed implementation plan/work plan are implemented in line with the budget and in coordination with SMOH/ Social Welfare department. 
  • Raises Purchase Request (PR) for activities and follow us with other members of the team to ensure timely approvals
  • Ensure that RI GBV and protection activities are carried out at the HF level as per project deliverables
  • Report any challenges observed to Protection Manager

Conduct service quality monitoring and data collection:

  • Conduct regular visits to health facilities at the field level to ensure GBV mainstreaming and CMR activities are taking place. 
  • Review and verify the completion of monthly data entry from the HFs as presented by the HIS Officer for submission to AL Jazirah Team and Area Manager.
  • Ensure all UNFPA, and WHO guidelines, and protocols are being followed in managing patients.

Reporting:

  • Prepare reports of all activities implemented and monitoring visits conducted and share with Health Manager and HIS officer
  • Review data/ information on GBV for health related to donor reports in close coordination with field teams.
  • Support the health team to deliver weekly/bi-weekly updates in a timely manner.

Coordination

  • Attend and represent RI in GBV/protection subgroups. 
  • Conduct coordination workshops to develop and strengthen CP and GVB referral pathways
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of health education and hygiene promotion messages.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor Protection Manager or BHA PM.

Qualification and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in social development, gender, and/or other related social science field. Advanced University Degree(Master’s) is an advantage.
  • 2 years of previous work experience relevant to the function of GBV in a local context and having experience in the field of GBV prevention, mitigation, and response, broader protection or social work involving the empowerment of women and girls, gender, child protection, mental health, counseling and working with survivors, humanitarian and development issues. Ability to mainstream gender in programs and projects.
  • Excellent facilitation and training skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Familiarity with humanitarian principles, accountability standards, and other international quality assurance mechanisms, including Sphere, Red Cross Code of Conduct, Humanitarian Accountability Partnership, Do No Harm, People in Aid Code of Good Practice, etc.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
  • Working knowledge of English, with the ability to write in both English and Arabic languages. 
  • Strong communication, management, problem-solving and capacity-building (coaching) skills
