Summary:

The objective of the nutritionist is there two fold .Firstly the nutritionist will lead the implementation of the community based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) and IYCF project activities and ensure that are well functioning and implemented to a high standard, Secondly ensure provision of high quality care to all the beneficiaries, in line with FMOH CMAM and IYCF guidelines focusing in severe malnutrition with medical complication. 

Essential Job Functions:

Specific Tasks 

The nutritionist will be responsible for the following tasks in the inpatient care cases   

  • Lead the capacity building of the staff following the national protocols
  • ensure integration of IYCF into CMAM activities
  • Weekly on site visit to the inpatient care for on job training, supportive supervision and monitoring and the actual of supportive visit should be reflected in the weekly /monthly reports 
  • to improve program quality .This to be done together with filed supervisor/s
  • Monitor the supply availability  and utilization at the inpatient level and ensure timely alert of possible stock-out is shared with supervisor 
  • Share regular stock reports 
  • Support end users and ensure beneficiaries feedback is reflected 

Expected Deliverables 

  • Weekly monitoring plan devolved and implantation based on identified needs 
  • In liaison with Nutrition officer, provide technical guidance to support Relief International nutrition staff in SC as well as needed. 
  • Ensure all staff understand and implement inpatient protocols used in the treatment sever acute malnourished children with medical complication. 
  • Ensure appropriate and consistent health and nutrition education messaging to mothers and other carers at SC site
  • Develop monthly work plans in liaison with Nutrition Officer.
  • Compile weekly update and submit to Nutrition Officer.
  • management of the malnourished and in prevention of malnutrition 
  • Facilitate supplies requests, distribution plans, and consumption reports
  • At least 80% of CMAM program meet the national quality standard for cure, mortality and defaulting (SPHERE standard).
  • Ensure that the inpatient care working for 24hourse including at night 
  • Share at least 2 success stories on monthly basis to document good practise 
  • Implementation status of the recommended action from weekly /monthly monitoring visit and shared with the supervisor 

Others:

  • Comply with all relevant RI policies and procedures with respect to child protection, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies.
  • Any other tasks as required by the nutrition Sector head.

Qualification and Experience:

  •  BSc Public Health / Nutrition / Nursing  or relevant field 
  • 3 years’ Experience of emergency nutrition work and implementation of CMAM and IYCF, including monitoring and evaluation mainly in SC.
  • Basic training certificate on inpatient care training endorsed from MOH.
  • Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff.
  • Demonstrable ability at report writing and excellent communication skills
  • Computer literacy with excellent understanding of Microsoft office package.
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathise with all beneficiaries and their carers
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when difficult condition and under pressure.
  • Prepared to live and work in an uncertain security environment
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic & English languages
