Search for Common Ground (Search) is an international non-profit organization that promotes the peaceful resolution of conflict. With headquarters in Washington, DC and Brussels, Belgium, Search’s mission is to transform how individuals, organizations, and governments deal with conflict—away from destructive approaches towards cooperative solutions. With more than 800 staff worldwide, Search implements projects in more than 30 countries across the globe, including in Sudan where it has been working since 2009.
The Project
Search in Sudan is currently implementing a diversity of programs aimed at fostering locally-led peacebuilding and empowering women and youth to engage as actors of peace in their communities. These programs are funded by an array of international donors, and they combine community-led capacity building, dialogue and peace and livelihood initiatives with media and social media engagement, with a view to amplify its programming’s reach and impact.
The Role
The Consultant will work closely with the Search Sudan and regional teams to help craft, implement and monitor Search’s peacebuilding social media campaign in Sudan, between October 2023 and January 2024.
Specifically, the selected team will:
1). Work hand in hand with Search to articulate SMART social media campaign objectives.
2). Ensure the quality of content produced as part of the campaign.
3). Manage and/or advise on community engagement around the content to maximize impact and reach.
4). Identify, mobilize, and support local influencers’ own peacebuilding social media engagement, in line with Search’s campaign objectives.
5). Monitor the campaign’s results on a weekly basis, and provide actionable recommendations to maximize reach and impact.
6). Provide training on social media campaign management to the Search team.
Deliverables
- Social Media campaign strategy completion
- Identification and engagement of local influencers
- Daily reviews and publication of Search and influencers’ content
- Weekly monitoring reports
- Punctual training and coaching for Search staff
Pricing model
- The Consultant should outline the pricing model to be used, breaking down daily rates of personnel or consultants, the cost of specific social media tools, payments to third parties, relevant data access or storage costs, etc. for each deliverable. If selected, a master service agreement will guide the overall scope and pricing of the partnership between the Consultant and Search.
Schedule of performance
- The assignment is to start from October 15, 2023, through January 15, 2024, with a possibility to renew for an additional 3 months. A detailed work schedule will be developed between the Consultant and Search upon signature of the agreement.
Requirements
- Experience in designing, implementing and monitoring successful social media campaigns
- Experience working with social media influencers
- Experience using different digital marketing tools and strategies
- Experience and ability to work in/with Sudan and in Arabic
- Experience leading social media campaigns for peacebuilding and/or social and behavior change
- Previous experience in working with (I)NGOs is a strong advantage
Desired Profiles and Skills
- The ideal candidate(s) would be a team or agency, Sudanese or with Sudanese staff on the team, with strong digital marketing and social media campaigning experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of Sudan’s context, social media landscape, and networks of influencers.
- Demonstrated skills in empathy, active listening, communication, critical thinking, patience, observation and confidentiality.Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Languages: command English and Arabic.
- Availability to work between October 15, 2023 and January 15, 2024.

Selection Process and Scoring Criteria
- Search will evaluate all materials submitted and engage in interviews with the shortlisted Consultants. Submissions will be evaluated based on the scoring criteria outlined below. Search will favorably consider proposals from Consultants that demonstrate a commitment to participatory processes, diversity and inclusion.
Applications will be scored as follows:
- 25% on the financial value for money.
- 35% on the relevant past performance, including the experience in geographies included and/or use of appropriate tech tools to complete the proposed deliverables.
- 20% on the proposed methodology to achieve the required deliverables.
- 20% on the quality and local knowledge of the key personnel proposed.
