Duties

Under the general supervision of the Radio/Telephone Technician Supervisor, incumbent is responsible for ensuring the proper operation of UNCLASSIFIED telephone, Very High Frequency (VHF) and Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) radio systems for the U.S. Embassy. Must be able to maintain, repair and install General Electric, Midland, Motorola, hand held, mobile and fixed telephone and radio equipment. Independently conduct radio site surveys to determine the bills of material (type and amount of equipment and material needed to accomplish stated objectives), optimum placement of equipment and installation instructions. Also assist in the installation and maintenance of telephone and data network equipment and systems.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years experience in telecommunication systems is required.

Job Knowledge: 

Good knowledge of the Embassy and its organization is required. The job holder should have basic knowledge of country and government working systems. Must know safety practices and procedures.  Electrical and/or electronic and radio theories and practices.  Installation, operation, maintenance testing, troubleshooting, and repair procedures and techniques for the equipment to be serviced.  To be aware of Sudanese and Department of State Radio standards and requirements

Education Requirements:

Successful completion of secondary school is required.
