Background:
Purpose of the Position:
The GIZ-funded project aims to enhance energy access and promote clean energy solutions for displaced populations and host communities. The Energy Project Coordinator will play a pivotal role in planning, coordinating, and monitoring energy-related interventions under the GIZ-funded project. This position ensures smooth execution of activities across three key outputs: improved cooking systems, productive use of energy for small and micro entrepreneurs, and household solarization. The Coordinator will manage timelines, budgets, and stakeholder engagement while fostering innovation and sustainability.
This role requires strong technical expertise in renewable energy, clean cooking solutions, and solar technologies, combined with excellent coordination skills to ensure successful delivery of project output.
Duties and responsibilities:
Tasks, responsibilities, and results:
Project Planning & Coordination:
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and budgets.
- Coordinate communication among stakeholders, including local authorities, private sector actors, and development partners.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and regulatory standards.
- Improved Cooking Systems: Organize 8 training workshops on fuel-efficient stoves for 200 participants (80% women); support production and marketing of 200 stoves and assist 8 women’s groups in advertising and collective selling.
- Productive Use of Energy (PUE): Facilitate solarization of value-addition equipment for 11 farmer networks; support 11 IDP-led business groups to adopt solarized systems for income-generating activities.
- Household Solarization: Coordinate installation of solar home systems (SHS) for 50 vulnerable households in IDP camps, prioritizing strategic locations for maximum impact.
- Implementation of Project Outputs
Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track progress against timelines and deliverables.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify risks and propose corrective actions.
Capacity Building & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Organize training sessions for artisans, entrepreneurs, and community members.
- Foster collaboration and maintain clear communication channels across all partners.
Other:
- Prepares progress reports
- Ensures equal participation of and benefit for women and men in all areas of work
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Other responsibilities:
- Serve as focal person for the implementation of Knowledge Management and Learning (KML)
- Track adherence to Core Humanitarian Standards, including the development and use of information and learning materials.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project coordination, renewable energy, or energy access initiatives.
- Proven experience in community-based energy interventions and productive use of energy.
- Strong project management, training facilitation, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in dynamic environments.
WE OFFER:
- The salary scale for this position is J 4, 1,498 USD – J 5, 1, 584 USD basic salary per month based on qualifications and experience. All the recruitment process will take place in Gedaref.
