The Medical Warehouse Officer will support the manager in the day-to-day management of pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities within the International Medical Corps’ project portfolio. The team member will facilitate compliance, along with the deputy medical coordinator, with selection, quantification, procurement, quality, warehouse and health facilities’ stock management, as well as rational use of medicines and other medical commodities for the mission projects.

  • Arrange and manage health commodities in the warehouse by internationally accepted standard practices including tracking expiration dates, First-expired-first-out (FEFO) policy, bin cards, stock cards, tracking registers, re-order thresholds, cleanliness, etc.
  • Follow all medical warehouse stock management policies, procedures and manuals including regular monitoring and recording temperature for cold chain and room temperature items
  • Ensure Procured medical commodities are according to the specification
  • Conduct quality control checks when medical commodities are received, dispatched and returned/recalled 
  • Ensure proper receipt, storage and documentation of procured health commodities 
  • Ensure timely preparation and shipping of kits and packages of health commodities
  • Ensure tracking of overutilized and underutilized items to adjust requests
  • Inform the supervisor of pending stockouts, damaged medication, or any other irregularity in health commodities stock
  • Ensure proper disposal of expired medicines according to IMC standards and waste management protocols in collaboration with the deputy medical coordinator & logistics department.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure smooth implementation and  integration of services
  • Adhere to administrative directives about work schedules, record keeping, line of communications and other IMC policies
  • Respect IMC safety and security regulations.
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Diploma in pharmacy or training in pharmacy technician or related training in medical warehouse management
  • Two-years’ experience in medical warehouse management
  • Basic understanding of and communication capacity in English should know the national & regional languages
  • Must be able to travel to field sites
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment 
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with various personalities and cultures
