The EUD- Education Coordinator will report to the EUD project manager project. S/he will support the work under the overall guidance of the project manager and with full support from the heads of CP and CRG, Nutrition, and FSL, as well as support from PDQ on all the technical aspects of this EUD program. 

Project management 

  • Provide technical support and supervision on efficient and effective implementation of assigned projects as per work plans, M&E plans, budgets, timelines, and contractual obligations.
  • Design relevant technical monitoring and implementing materials to ensure quality project implementation.
  • Manage project teams to ensure delivery of agreed deliverables, plans, and strategies as per SCI policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure project activities are on track, including developing and implementing solutions as necessary.
  • Manage project budgets and spending by BVAs, adherence with donor and SCI procedures and policies.
  • Conduct capacity-building and/or mentoring activities for project staff and/or NGO partners as required.
  • Facilitate team building and cohesive working among team members.
  • Review and support the elaboration of project documents and reports.
  • Maintain project transparency and accountability within the country team and with donors.
  • Support the Senior Program Manager in relevant tasks of program management, including resource allocation and ensuring appropriate controls are maintained at all levels.
  • Provide feedback to the project team to ensure optimal performance.
  • Frequent travel to other project locations to attend project sites and provide support to the team as needed.

Donors visit support:

  • Support all donor visits by ensuring proper donor quality and compliance checklist is in place.
  • Prepare local communities for all donor visits and ensure the right community representatives are ready.
  • Ensure donor visibility is well placed and visible for all.
  • Main strong connections with key stakeholders in the served community and facilitate donor visits, accordingly, including government officials.
  • Facilitate the obtaining of all necessary documents including permission for the donor visits.

Reporting and Support MEAL function:

  • Support the facilitation with the MEAL team to ensure all monitoring and evaluation activities are conducted most efficiently.
  • Lead the process of the key assessment and evaluation activities including baseline, midterm, and end-line assessment.
  • Conduct regular visits to schools and obtain key observations and views of target groups to improve the quality of implementation.
  • Facilitate the process of mid-project and end-project evaluation in the target states.
  • In close work coordination with the Data Management focal point ensure data reported reflect the actual status of the project.
  • Conduct monthly reviews for the IPTT against the actual monthly implementation.
  • Monitor the implementation of key implementing partners and provide relevant feedback.

Risks and Compliance:

  • Conduct monthly visits to project locations and schools and ensure high-quality standards of implementation are maintained.
  • Identify and the unsafe programming issues in all project locations report them to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide recommendations and actions to improve the unsafe programming.
  • Conduct monthly BvA revision and provide prompt feedback on the spending.
  • Conduct monthly reviews for the transaction list and provide feedback and comments for necessary adjustments.
  • Sign a monthly BvA review and transaction list to respective HPI, Finance Manager, and DDPO notifying the Senior EUD Program Manager.

External Coordination and Communication 

  • Represent SCI in coordination meetings, education working groups and external relationships.
  • Maintain organizational consistency through the maintenance of strong and positive relations with field teams and CO.
  • Compile the 5ws related to the EQUIP2 and EUD programs and share them with the focal point in the CO.
  • Participate in the cluster meetings and provide feedback on the status of overall program implementation in different areas.

Capacity Building:

  • Supervise the overall implementation of target states and provide on-the-job training for the education team to improve the implementation.
  • Identify learning and training needs of education teams at the field levels and identify relevant learning providers together with the line manager. 
  • In coordination with HPI, DDPO and Senior EUD Program Manager (SEPM), specify relevant SCI and partner staff for capacity-building opportunities.

Representation & Advocacy & Organizational Learning:

  • Ensure that Save the Children’s planning and work are coordinated with other agencies and the Government and take a leadership role in meetings with the State Ministry of Education, Interagency Coordination meetings/forums, and other relevant forums. 
  • Taking the lead to document lessons learned and success stories,, especially for wider dissemination.
  • Work in a coordinated manner with the other projects, and sectors to create synergies and integrate cross-cutting issues.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects regarding Education Program Campaigns and Advocacy activities including negotiating agreements, and MoUs, developing implementation plans, contracting consultants, as well as evaluation and reporting.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies for maximizing the effectiveness of the campaigning and advocacy activities using a wide variety of tools/ including e.g. digital/ new technology tools.
  • Provide opportunities for students, teachers, and PTA to develop capacity to act independently and jointly on awareness campaigns and advocacy regarding children’s access and retention in school.
  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practices concerning child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities, and other relevant policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualification, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • A degree in Education or related field, Social Sciences, Public Health, Agricultural, or a master’s degree is preferable.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with INGOs in community mobilization approaches and management of projects.
  • Previous experience in managing a team as well as extensive project management skills.
  • Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability
  • Demonstrated monitoring and evaluation skills.
  • Proven capacity to supervise, train, and coach staff.
  • Experience in representation, including sector coordination, and ability to represent effectively in external forums.
  • Ability to write clear and well-argued assessments and project reports.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong influencing skills and experience in advocacy
  • A high level of written and spoken English is crucial for this position.
  • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
  • Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children.  In particular, a good understanding of the Save the Children mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.
