Planning, implementation and monitoring/evaluation of project activities in liaison with communities/children, relevant government bodies or non-state actors, national and international NGOs and UN agencies in Al-Gazira

  • Build relationships and linkages with local authorities and communities.
  • Build relations with other NGOs that are working in the area.
  • Strengthen/build relations with the government.
  • Provide leadership to the Save the Children team and build and maintain team spirit.
  • Participate in community, government, and NGO meetings and provide program updates if and when necessary.
  • Arrange meetings with stakeholders (community, local authority, government, and NGOs).
  • In collaboration with the Program Implementation Manager (PIM) Operation Manager (OM), and support services coordinate Save the Children activities at all levels in the Area. 
  • Oversee and coordinate warehouse and transport management in the field.
  • Ensure that staff visiting the field are accommodated.       
  • Host visitors from other Save the Children offices, partners, and donors.
  • Monitor security situation in the field in collaboration with the Operation Manager.
  • Give local security briefings to the Save the Children staff in the field or visiting.
  • In collaboration with the program sector, in Kadugli, assist program staff and local partners in understanding Save the Children program activities and plans.
  • Ensure and promote program activity integration, cooperation, and coordination amongst all the sector programs.
  • In coordination with, the program sector, monitor, and promote accountability in utilizing program recourses and give feedback.
  • Utilize sector–monitoring tools to promote activity achievement.
  • Provide timely information to the program sector, on the status of existing and planned interventions.
  • Manage and monitor Save the Children assets.
  • Documentation and reporting.
  • Ensure project staff produces their reports on time to enable the area coordinator to compile an integrated area report.
  • In collaboration with program staff, prepare planning reports including the quarterly implementation work /action plans.
  • Documents success stories and lessons learned to accompany the performance reports.
  • Assist in the compilation of concept notes /proposals in liaison with the program sector, and program officers.
  • Maintain external relations with communities, government, partners, and donors by attending meetings and workshops locally and regionally.
  • Prepare budget and monitor cash flow.
  • Monitor local purchases.
  • Manage cash advances and maintain appropriate records.
  • Manage area budget in coordination with the technical team and support services (finance administration and program officers).
  • Participate in hiring and discipline of staff.
  • Coordinate staff activities and ensure staff shares resources where possible.
  • Ongoing staff appraisal.
  • Support pieces of training needs that may have been identified.
  • Any responsibilities assigned by the direct supervisor (program manager)

Child Safeguarding

  • Act as an ambassador for child safeguarding in both your professional and personal life. Never abuse your position of trust and authority.
  • Keeping children we work with safe from deliberate harm/risk or inadvertent harm/risk. This is a top organizational and personal commitment, and the standards of behavior towards children expected by the organization should reflect both in your personal and professional life. 
  • Behave towards children in a way, that reflects the Code of Conduct, CSG Code of Conduct, and Child Safeguarding Policy. 
  • Report any CSG issues or concerns in a timely way according to the Country reporting system and procedures. (At least two reports per year). Ask if unclear on anything to do with child safeguarding, such as which concerns should be reported, how to report concerns, and how to respond to them.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills, and Experience Required

Bachelor of Public and environmental health, in addition to MS in computer skills.

Essential

  • At least 10 years of progressively working on programs with INGOs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic

Desirable

  • Willingness to learn and share information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a team. 
  • Good computer skills in MS packages (Computer Applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
