UNOPS-ETMCO is recruiting for this position: Driver based in Port Sudan, Sudan

Under the general supervision of the Country Manager, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services and clerical support ensuring high accuracy of work. The Driver demonstrates a client‐oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. The Driver provides driving services to the personnel in the office, consultants and experts and UNOPS personnel on mission. She or he also provides clerical support services inside and messenger services outside the office as required.
Functional Responsibilities

Provides reliable and secure driving services by
- Driving office vehicles for the project team and visitors
- Collecting and delivering mail, documents, and other items; and
- Meeting official personnel at the airport and facilitating immigration and customs formalities as required.
Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies
- Including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, and map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
- Ensures that immediate steps, as required by rules and regulations, are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
- Takes care of office documents for protocol clearance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other government agencies, Embassies and other international organizations operating from Sudan. Also collects all documents destined to UNOPS ETMCO Sudan.
- Ensures proper vehicle use through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs and provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
- Ensures the day‐to‐day maintenance of the assigned vehicle by checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.; performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs; and ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean
- Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies; including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, and map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
- Ensures that immediate steps, as required by rules and regulations, are taken in case of involvement in an accident.

Education/Experience/Language requirements
Education: | Secondary/High School education is required. A Technical Diploma in Automotive is an added advantage. Formal driver’s training with a valid driver’s license is required. A Sudanese Driving license is required. |
Experience: | Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in driving is required. Safe driving record, and knowledge of driving rules and regulations is required. Skills in minor vehicle repair is required. |
Language Requirements: | Fluency in written, spoken and reading English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset. |
