Duties

The mission of the Information Resource Management (IRM) Service Desk Manager is to attend to the needs of approximately 460 IRM customers at Embassy Khartoum. The incumbent receives direct supervision from the System Manager (CMS) and indirect supervision from the Information System Officer (ISO).  The incumbent manages the IRM Service Desk. The Incumbent monitors IRM services and the timely provision of those services. The incumbent is also responsible for the inventory and issuance of mobile devices, SIM cards, laptops, satellite phones and radios.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years’ experience in administrative office work/ computer customer support/service position is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Good knowledge of hardware and software, mobile computing, computer systems management, systems analysis, network operations and LAN administration.  The job holder must be familiar with all Department of State rules and restrictions concerning the security and procedures involved in computer operations.  He/she must develop a good understanding of how all the mission sections interact with each other and with outside agencies.

Education Requirements:

Two (2) years university studies in a IT program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering is required.

 Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:

English: Level III (Good working knowledge, speaking, reading and writing) is required. (This may be tested)

Arabic: Level III (Good working knowledge, speaking, reading and writing) is required. (This may be tested)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to present a friendly, helpful, patient and caring impression to customers.
  • Explaining policy or limitations on resources and communicate customer issues and expectations in detail and accurately.
  • Ability to be firm but tactful when explaining policy or limitations on resources.
  • Requires the ability to conceptualize systems logically and troubleshoot moderately difficult issues.
