The work schedule for this position is:

Duties

Under direct supervision of the Visas Unit Supervisor and indirect guidance of the American Visa Chief, the incumbent processes the full range of nonimmigrant/immigrant visa (NIV/IV) services and handles the Visa 92/V93 refugee/asylee follow-to-join portfolio.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, intake and document screening, data entry, case filing, and tracking, production of visas, distribution of passports to applicants, and translation for Arabic and English.  The incumbent also manages the administrative processing portfolio, including correspondence, memo drafting, and processing.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience involving the application of complex regulations (such as in consular, migration, immigration, or refugee work) along with extensive public customer service is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Within two years of entry, a thorough knowledge of 9 FAM is required. Prior to entry, should have a basic understanding of Sudanese civil and family law procedures, and US immigration regulations. Should understand basic principles of customer service and business correspondence.

Education Requirements:

University, College studies is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:  

English: Level IV (Fluent, speaking, reading and writing) is required. (This may be tested)

Arabic: Level IV (Fluent, speaking, reading and writing) is required. (This may be tested)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

  • Must be comfortable working on a PC in a Windows environment. (This may be tested)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is required. (This may be tested)
  • Ability to exercise tact and good judgment under stress in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in analyzing problems, using good judgment in evaluating evidence and applying complex regulatory material correctly.
  • Ability to work under continuous pressure.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Sudan may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
